More rain this weekend in areas that will affect the mississippi river. Hope for the best.

quote:somehow they have huntsville hospital back online with power. I was hopeful I would see power soon after since I live nearby, but no dice...
None of Madison Co has power yet and they are saying it will be Monday evening at the earliest before TVA tells them it's ok to start working everyone back on. Even then, they are saying it will be sporadic.

I don`t even want to think about hurricane season. At this rate, I`m sure it has some kind of clusterfrick storm in store for someone.

List of names of deaths that have been released so far
Marshall County
Ruth
Phillip Hallmark, 56
Ann Hallmark, 54
Shane Hallmark, 37
Jennifer Hallmark, 31
Jayden Hallmark, 17 months
Note: Jayden's twin sister, Julie, is in intensive care at a Birmingham hospital.
Dear God, this is so sad.
Emergency services were stretched particularly thin in the demolished town of Hackleburg, Ala., where officials had kept the dead in a refrigerated truck because of a shortage of body bags. At least 27 people were killed there and the search for missing people continued, with FBI agents fanning out to local hospitals to help.

We have people here at the hospital that have passed and no one knows their names. Breaks my heart.

That's awful. Are you slammed this morning because of it?
Posted on 4/30/11 at 10:31 am to Alahunter
Yeah we are pretty busy. I have people here in the office with me.
Posted on 4/30/11 at 10:33 am to Crimsoncutie98
Understandable on being busy and I realize that now. Hope ya get a lunch today since you've got some coverage and the B's are away to leave ya alone so you can work.

Bill Yell from Huntsville Utilities was on the news up here yesterday and said that TVA gave them 1% of their normal electric usage. They sent what they had to the hospitals and other necessary places. They said if you were on one of those grids, you would have power. Even on Monday, they are gonna take care of the businesses that need it first, then residential.

We have plenty for her. I was happy it was cleared out....means people are donating it. Baby stuff is in high demand all over.

no doubt.. glad to see it too. Just scared me that you wouldn't have enough for your young un too. Hopefully everyone in need will get what they need. I was reading that some in N. Birmingham hadn't eaten in 2 days, that emergency folks had kind of ignored their areas. Hopefully folks can get organized enough to get everything distributed to all areas.

So sad. Cant imagine the pain these people are going through. I imagine there will be a lot of mental health issues starting.
Posted on 4/30/11 at 11:07 am to Crimsoncutie98
oh yeah. There will be alot of long standing issues for alot of survivors I'm sure. I just hope we don't ever have to see and nobody ever has to experience an event like this again to this magnitude.

Forgotten communities
This is the worst part to me. The EMA didn't even know this town had been destroyed.
Some communities like Tuscaloosa get lots of media attention. Others, like Smithville, MS and Rainesville, AL don't have the same attention, but are at least getting EMA help.
I can't imagine being in a town that no one even knew was destroyed until two or three days after the storm.
Oh, and the looter thing really pisses me off. Every one of those losers should be shot.

I know.. the looters should be locked up for a long time, and the price gougers too. I'm afraid to hear stories about people being taken advantage of that will be coming, cuz you know it's going to happen at some point.
