"Boil Water alert" issued for pretty much all of West Jefferson county. Saying to boil water at least 10 minutes before use, due to the damage incurred at water work plants.

How are things on your side of town? I know the tornado didn't hit there, but what about damage from the straight-line winds yesterday morning?

From the Tuscaloosa News..

· Individuals seen/treated at hospitals – 1500

· Treated and released – 442*

· Number of individuals admitted – 266*

· Treated and transferred – 32*

· Fatalities – 13*

*Please note, due to the continued fluid nature of the event, the numbers marked with an asterisk may be underreported. However, this was the best available information as of 10:30 a.m., April 28. A number of hospitals are still receiving patients, and we will provide an update later today.

They are asking everyone in Jefferson County to limit water for the time being. Apparently, the intake plants lost electricity too.

This is the same for the Tuscaloosa area as two water towers were damaged.

We are fine... it's sort of hit and miss, mostly trees. We are only a few miles, by the way the crow flies, from downtown and the airport, and we felt a little rumble and found some krispy kreme sacks, but thank God, we are safe. We never even lost power.

I was called in to to help with some of the support stuff, and I was just debriefed in a meeting. People who have been in the rubble were speechless.

Just saw the Harrison family on TV. Flew in from Dallas last night because they can't find their daughter, who is a senior at UA.

She was with her boyfriend, long snapper Carson Tinker, during the storm. The three guys in the house were found alive, the dogs were found dead. She has not been located.

It broke my heart watching the mother talk.

Have they found this girl yet?

MsGarrison, any word on your cousin as of yet?

Well, if everything stands at this point, this will be the biggest Tornado Outbreak ever recorded in history, bigger than the Super Outbreak.

I asked this in another thread and got no response so maybe you can help:

I'm trying to donate some money to the Tuscaloosa area Red Cross but their website isn't coming up. Anybody got any other idea how to get money to them?...

damn, that blue car with the pole through it looks like something out of a Final Destination movie.

Hope no one was in that thing!

I am glad you're alright too. Have you heard from your Tuscaloosa friend? I am still trying to hear from one friend who is unaccounted for. Circuits are busy, even in Birmingham, so I'm hoping that's all it is.

I was in tears yesterday because I had 3 friends text me they heard it coming, and I was watching it on the news, and then I heard nothing. Eventually heard from 2 friends, and the 3rd is the one we are still trying to track down.

Thank you Bella!!! I'm really glad I'm safe as well as my family, but my heart is heavy and hurting for all of those affected. The pictures are breaking my heart.
