Nice offer from Alabama. At least they're trying.
Marshall has turned down multiple offers last few years. I agree he may be holding out for IU. The problem is that Indiana is in a pickle since Crean's buy out is HUGE.

I like State's approach Pay $2 million for a proven coach and free up some money for recruits, I mean AAU development grants, I mean church donations.

He's only going to leave for a top 5 job and Alabama certainly isn't that.
Yeah...but... Nick Saban bro.

I'd be surprised if he came but I was surprised when Saban came too so who the hell knows.
I would never assume to know what is important to Greg Marshall and I find it laughable that anyone here actually does.

Some of y'all are underestimating the amount of money Bama is willing to throw at him
Who exactly is? The question is whether or not Marshall will bite. Is he a guy willing to follow the dollar bills?

I am just gonna be pissed if they hold out to long chasing Marshall to miss out on a guy like Shaka Smart who has apparently shown interest in the job

Malzhan' record during his first two seasons at Auburn is better than Saban's record during his first two seasons at Bammer. If that makes him second fiddle on Auburn's campus, it is fine with me

Why would you leave Kansas for Alabama? The jayhawks bring a lot of attention to that state and it helps the shockers.
Indiana, I can completely understand if he goes there. But Alabama? When have they EVER been taken seriously in basketball??
That would be a fricked up move, and it would be a slap in the face to hoosierville, shockerville, and college basketball in general.
Alabama fans are complete a-holes as it is. Please, Marshall, please don't go to Alabama and make those egos even bigger. Please don't. The whole sports world is begging you not to go down to that school. Let them have their football. Another quality school deserves to have you for basketball.

I am just gonna try to say exactly what Parrish said on his podcast a week ago.
"Bama is not getting Greg Marshall...unless they throw like $5 million at him"

Saban getting heavily involved could easily remind Marshall that he will always be 2nd fiddle at bama
Or having Saban sell you could be a pretty inticing...ever met Saban?

"I'm not in search of anything," Marshall said. "I've got a great life, great family, great community I live in, great school, great administration, great players. What more do I need? More money? That's the only thing. We can obviously make runs in the NCAA tournament from Wichita State.

"This could be a destination job for me. Now it may not be, but I'm just saying I'm not in a big hurry and I never have been."
quote:
"I don't care if you pay me $2 million or $3 million. If I go home and I'm losing, it's no fun," Marshall said. "There is value in being loved. There's value in walking down the street and people going, 'There's our coach. He's a great coach.' I don't want my children having to go to school and getting ridiculed with all the crazy stuff people say. That's not worth an extra $200,000 or $400,000 to me. My kids will have bragging rights at Wichita schools."

If they're smart, they don't drag this out. Get a yes, no or maybe from Marshall. If it's not clear, move on Smart immediately if he's interested.

Just because Saban signed your fat wife's tits at the Gump Run doesn't mean another millionaire coach gives a frick about meeting him

All coaches say that shite when they're at mid major schools.
Posted on 3/23/15 at 2:19 pm to Robin Masters
He's already making almost 2 million. Witchita St will match up to 3.5-4 mil. Witchita St is also in much better condition than Alabama and much more likely to win a national championship in the coming years.

Except he's turned down big money and bigger programs than Bama numerous times already

That's pretty funny I will give you that...
Were you one of the idiots on here in 2006 who said Bama's football program was dead and we would never land Saban?
