The Smith thing was for improper contact with an agent and he probably took money.
Saban had no choice and hinted he would not return to the program. That is not a discipline issue. It is an eligibility one that bama did not want to take a chance on since Smith was likely going pro.

Hmm. If he is indeed suspended I can't believe its for the throat slash.No way on Earth they'd hold him out of a real game.

you were in the stadium, no? Saban ripped him apart on the sideline after seeing the replay on the jumbotron. Clearly he knew exactly what he did.
Again, I don't see the point for a suspension at all. Kids do stupid shite. But this just comes across really poorly given he didn't get benched for a single play in the game he actually did this in. The message being sent is that when it's convenient, you'll get punished. Which imo, is worse than no message.

1) Saban didn't have to suspend him, but he did. You know why? To show his players not to do stupid shot like throat slashes because it hurts the team.
2) For those laughing say "lol Colorado State lolololol". STFU. It's normal procedure to suspend the next game, and guess what, that's their next game. Sorry he didnt look down the schedule and suspend him for LSU.
3) and for the dumbass A&M fan that wanted him suspended after half- I hope you don't vote.

so geno smith getting suspended for the first game of this year doesn't come to mind on how saban takes discipline issues? if it would have been the week before the aTm game he would have been suspended...did RM get arrested for this alleged stunt your talking about?

You're trying to tell everyone what normal suspension procedure is. Did you not exist for TAMU's opener last year? Since it wasn't Tech because of the storm, guess who got to play in that one? Is that typical or atypical? I don't know, you're the one who knows what standard procedure is.
