So, we average 143% of our opponents average YPP given up.

A better way to state this, you are averaging a 39% increase in yards per play (8.53 vs 6.13), or an average of 2.40 more yards per play

LOL what? Saying a team averages 107% or 96% is much easier than saying that average 7% more or 4% less. I mean, I get we are dealing with idiots here on this board, but still.
That's how most of those metrics are shown, 1.07 or 0.98 or whatever. Mainly because it's easier to directly take that and multiply it, at least that's my guess. Team A gives up 5.0 YPP, Alabama had 147% of Team A's average, just multiple 5.0 * 1.47, wallah.

Why? 28 would probably be a guaranteed victory for bama

I also saw your numbers incorrectly. I need to update mine for the correct percentage
But I see a 39% increase, not a 43% increase......
Yall averaged 8.53 YPP, the opponents averaged 6.13 YPP in other games correct? That is a 39% increase, not 43%

That might be right, I was just using the YPP numbers he gave - not the total yards and total plays for those games divided out.
The total YPP allowed was 41.93 and the total YPP we had was 59.76, give us 42.52% more. I'm not sure exactly where they lie if you dug in and did exact yards excluding us. Probably is a slight difference.

quote:Gotcha. I quickly did LSU, and we are averaging a 12% increase in YPP. That is without taking out any games though, so our increase would go up if you excluded our games

I’m a stats guy, and I’m most impressed at how quick the clap-back occurred.
Only 7 minutes of game time went off the clock.
I was still trying to get the crowd hyped.
My hype team didn’t even get a chance to get in here.

Bama fans won’t admit (except summer), that the Uga game this past Saturday has to be somewhat unsettling. Uga was number 1 in scoring defense and top 10 in YPP, and they looked completely lost against their first taste against a good team on the road
Bama really doesn’t know what they are truly right now, no matter how much y’all try to pound your chest

It definitely got my attention. I wouldn't quite say it was "unsettling", but after the Florida game I was close to having my nervous meter drop to about 5%. After that whipping of Georgia I'm certainly up to a solid 50%. It's 100% a game we can lose.

It could prove to be all wrong, but I feel pretty good about things on offense. Assuming health, I don't have many doubts about that group. I just feel like the floor for them is so much higher than any group we've had in a long, long time. But, we won't know for sure until they really get tested.
I'm still not sold on our defense, especially our edge setting and middle backers. They played a lot better Saturday against a pretty solid offense, but they still make me nervous.

I still think Bama wins, but I have some hope
Surprisingly, LSU looks like the best coached team we have had in many years. Low turnovers, better on penalties, far less time management and confusement on offense
And the fact Bama won’t be battle tested even a little, sets up well for us

That's what I have noticed and been impressed by. They look like a really well coached team that doesn't beat themselves.
And I think Ensminger has done a really damn good job. He calls a good game, he mixes things up and he doesn't stray from things when the offense goes through a drought. He understands that LSU has some limitations on offense, and he's not going to freak out when they pop up on a couple drives.
It'll be a war.

Not going to lie - I'm surprised at how well coached they look.
The thing that worries me the most by far is that Alabama gets crushed in special teams in Tiger Stadium. 15 yard punts and missed FGs in a close game might literally kill me.

Yards per play doesn't exactly tell much of the story.
A&M allows 5.94 yards per play and 323.3 yards per game
NMSU allows 5.93 yards per play and 490.6 yards per game
Are you telling me NMSU has a better defense?

or
Their defense sucks dick, but teams get big leads and just run the ball over and over again late helping out their YPP average
