But from ‘59 until 2001(?), there were no NCs. That’s UGA-esque futility.

Yeah, not winning titles before any of our players were born really gets to me.

Yes. Right now we've been a 10 win program almost every year that the college players have been alive.

You would seem prefer eliminatIng eras of LSU football that is distasteful to you.

Not at all. We won a few SEC championships before 2000, but nothing consistent. Your point was that currently LSU's normal season is 8 or 9 wins which isn't true. Historically? Sure. But, it hasn't been that way for a long time.

There was a thread on tRant earlier in which a poster claimed LSU was “a top 5 program.” And that simply isn’t true.

Definitely not all time. We are top 10-12ish depending on your criteria. Since the turn of the century though, Definitely top 5.

I mean Bama didnt do shite in my lifetime before Saban.

Both Bama and Clemson's success hinges on their coaches, LSU seems to be able to win with anyone now

So start a thread about them instead of the billionth LSU thread

You'd have a point of it weren't Alabama-LSU week.

Doesnt make a damn to Alabama fans what week it was.

There were a ton of threads about LSU on the Score Board during the Iron Bowl yesterday

I'd hate to see what it'd be like if we were actual rivals

At least you own up to your youthful ignorance. Bama won NCs with coaches not named Bear or Saban. So we seem to have the ability to “win with anyone.”

LSU won titles with fricking Les Miles and Ed Orgeron.

Between Bear and Saban you caught lightning in the bottle once.

What was that, like 30 years?

Both will miraculously be looked upon fondly by the SEC rant after they’ve left LSU

To be fair that is 1 NC in 38 years. That would equate out to about 3 national titles over a 100ish year football history.

So, basically, if you remove Bryant/Saban and extrapolate 1 title every 38 years we'd be sitting there with Florida and LSU with the most national titles in the SEC

You do realize Saban and Bryant combined cover 50 of those years right?

So, basically the same as everyone else in the SEC outside of Alabama

Kinda the point.

Post WW2 outside of the two greatest coaches in CFB history, bama is just another good program.

Sure, and the other 38 without a great coach they have 1. Just the facts my friend.

And if you removed their time at Alabama and left only their tenures at other schools neither coach is one of the 2 greatest coaches in CFB history.

Just 2 good college football coaches.
