Even if Wisconsin loses.. it's set up to let Ohio St. and Wisconsin trade spots. Ohio St. is ranked #8 but if Clemson wins they're really sitting next to Alabama at #6 by virtue of Miami and Georgia falling.

Before we even consider Ohio States Top-5 win and Big10 championship in this scenario.. the ranking really looks like:
1) Clemson
2) Auburn/Georgia
3) Oklahoma
4) Alabama (Did not win division, spot is not locked in)
5) Ohio St (Beat #4 and is Big10 champ, spot is not locked in)

You don't think Ohio St. moves up just 1 spot in the ranking after beating a top-4 team and winning the Big10?

It just doesn't seem likely Bama gets in unless both Wisconsin and Oklahoma lose..

Wrong. You are totally ignoring that OSU has two losses that are both worse than Bama's 1 loss. OSU and Bama will both be 3-1 vs top 25. OSU's 15 pt loss to OU and 31 pt loss to Iowa cannot be ignored. Quality wins matter but losses matter just as much, especially bad ones. The Iowa loss is a BAD one.

They probably won't even make it in. Gumps better be pulling for TCU.

It's a terrible loss. You're ignoring that Ohio St played a MUCH harder schedule though.

Bama is 0-1 against the top-10
Ohio St is 2-1 against the top-10

Nah. If it happens it happens, but I'm not gonna be desperately pulling for teams. We shite ourselves and lost our path. If it works out cool. If not nobody to blame but ourselves.

There is no real gap between Ohio St and Bama in the polls right now. It's an illusion. The teams in front of them play and someone has to lose.. effectively puts Bama/Ohio St at #4 and #5.. with Ohio St having bad losses but much better wins and a tougher schedule.

You are letting your LSU fandom get in the way of reason.

Say Ohio State wins by 3 on Saturday.

Does that win cancel out a 31 point loss? Hell no.

But, for shits and giggles, lets say it does.

Then you have to look at the other losses by each team.

Alabama would have lost by 12 to the #2 ranked team on the road.

Ohio State would have lost by 15 to the #3 ranked team at home.

Which is the worst loss?

Obviously the loss to Iowa is horrible.

There's a reason Bama fans are talking about losses though (Bama played no one).. if Ohio State beats Wisconsin:
Bama 0-1 vs Top 10
Ohio St 2-1 vs Top 10

So we’re back to the “worst loss” instead of “quality wins” argument bullshite from 2011?

Bama’s only “quality win” lost to Troy, regardless of if the committee keeps MSU and fvcking Fresno State at the back end of the Top 25 so Bama can play the “we’re 3-1 vs ranked teams” card.

Haha.

When 2/3rds of your quality victories are over teams named Mississippi State and Fresno State, you’ve probably played a “2011-tier” embarrassing schedule.

Take your typical bama circle jerk to the bama board. Not a melt, it's not amusing any more.

Bama is 5th. There are only four spots.

Well, I mean, the committee themselves have specifically said how a team loses is taken into consideration.

quote:

Obviously the loss to Iowa is horrible.

Absolutely. They have the worst loss of any team in the top 10. By far.

quote:

Bama 0-1 vs Top 10
Ohio St 2-1 vs Top 10

So you're counting Ohio State's wins against teams that were ranked at the time of their game, but not Alabama's?

By that logic Alabama beat a Top 3 team at a neutral site. Ohio State didn't.

Correct. The chair of the committee even said this.

quote:

College Football Playoff committee chairman Kirby Hocutt said there is "very little separation" in the committee's eyes between No. 5 Alabama, No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 Miami and No. 8 Ohio State.

Winning a conference is practically meaningless, as it should be. Being one of the four best teams in the country is more important.

What the hell are you looking at?

This is his post:

Do you think Wisconsin drops out of the top ten, or are you just confused?

I can only imagine your posts if Alabama had lost by 31 points to Arky or Ole Miss this year and also lost another game by 2 touchdowns in Tuscaloosa but were still in contention for a playoff spot.
