Even if you get in, what makes you think you won't get dominated again?

For one, the game wouldn't be in Jordan-Hare.

Secondly, ask LSU fans how things worked out the last time Alabama got a rematch in a title game.

Lastly, the three linebackers we got back the week of the Iron Bowl would have a month of extra preparation instead of 4 days.

I'm wondering why Clemson is getting so much sympathy for their terrible loss because of injury but Bama is getting none of it. It is what it is, but that's the truth.

Beating a top-5 team and winning your conference champion is worth 3-4 spots in the rankings

No it’s not. Au beat 2 number 1’s in three weeks and didn’t jump that many spots. No way they jump Osu sitting at 8 over that many teams and into the playoffs. They’ve got 2 losses with one being really ugly. If there was a chance of the committee doing this, they would have found a way to position them closer. Bama and UGA are both sitting at 5 and 6 should any of the top 4 fall.

Realistically, Bama needs AU to beat UGA and another team to lose to get in. If AU loses, the committee will simply jump uga over Bama because they would be conference champs.

Even if Wisconsin loses.. it's set up to let Ohio St. and Wisconsin trade spots. Ohio St. is ranked #8 but if Clemson wins they're really sitting next to Alabama at #6 by virtue of Miami and Georgia falling.

Before we even consider Ohio States Top-5 win and Big10 championship in this scenario.. the ranking really looks like:
1) Clemson
2) Auburn/Georgia
3) Oklahoma
4) Alabama (Did not win division, spot is not locked in)
5) Ohio St (Beat #4 and is Big10 champ, spot is not locked in)

You don't think Ohio St. moves up just 1 spot in the ranking after beating a top-4 team and winning the Big10?

It just doesn't seem likely Bama gets in unless both Wisconsin and Oklahoma lose..

Not happening unless Bama fixes some issues.

Isn’t Ohio State sitting at number 8? I’m telling you they put Bama and UGA where they are because those are the first two teams in if any of the top 4 fall. OSU is not jumping a 1 loss Georgia or Bama with 2 losses, with 1 being a blowout. Beating a top 4 team isn’t gonna do it because the committee didn’t jump AU that many spots with either victory over #1.

Another one you will claim but don't deserve.

Thankfully the committee will also remember their two blowout losses.

Losing by 31 to Iowa is what will keep Ohio State out.

Unless, of course, they beat Wisconsin by 59 like they did in 2014.

Alabama’s got problems, regardless of where they end up ranked.

Yeah. UGA and Miami may have to lose badly and OSU may have to win bigly to move all the way up to #4. Wisc is undefeated, but had an easy schedule. OSU beating Wisc may not boost their SOR as much as some think it will.

There is no real gap between Ohio St and Bama in the polls right now. It's an illusion. The teams in front of them play and someone has to lose.. effectively puts Bama/Ohio St at #4 and #5.. with Ohio St having bad losses but much better wins and a tougher schedule.

Playoff teams:
#1-#3: Oklahoma (if they win), SEC winner, ACC winner
#4-#5: Bama/Ohio St (if Wisconsin loses)

I find it hard to believe that Ohio St. doesn't move up a single spot in the polls after beating a top-5 team in the Big10 conference championship game.

I don't think they're particularly deserving either.

There is one reason OSU is even being mentioned as possibly getting in the playoffs. It’s tv ratings. If these talking heads all start saying they are effectively out (which they are) then a whole lot of eyeballs in the mid west aren’t going to be focused on the games this weekend. OSU is in the discussion simply to drive up interest in the games. Bama and UGA are the first two in if any of the top 4 falter.
