Is that why they held LSU to 17 points?

That isn't exactly something to brag about

Sounds like a Texas fan who was super pumped about Gilbert and a Florida fan super pumped about Brantley look what they did this year. It is not easy to replace a star QB.

Meh, Wilson has seen action in games over the last three years. He will be a RS-Junior next year.

How does that help your point or have to do with replacing Mallet? Everyone knows LSU's offense sucks.

Actually it is not, Wilson's skill set fits in nicely to what Petrino's offense is trying to do.

Brantley has a completely different skill set than Tebow/Newton, he isn't going to beat you with his legs.

Tyler's taken 109 snaps so it's not like we are just guessing. He has significant experience.

Is he going to be as good as Ryan Mallett? Probably not. Is he going to be as bad as Casey Dick. Definitely not. I think he will be one of the top 3-4 QB's in the SEC next year and for little ole Arkansas that is pretty good.

Did you see how well Casey Dick played in his Senior season?

QB's will not be a problem as long as Petrino is here.

Not to mention the emergence of Knile Davis to go along with the return of Dennis Johnson. A good running game will only help Wilson.

Prob about 80% of that is mop up duty. I was impressed with him against Auburn but he needs to play more snaps that mean something before you can know for sure. He for sure has the weapons around him to be successful.

His other game where he had any numbers worth looking at was against Missouri St. the first game last season where he came in up 41-10 half way through the 3rd and Arky still threw the ball 19 times with him in the game.

You are in trouble next year so gloat all you want now.

We return 5 WR's in the top 20 in catches and yards in the SEC, and the SEC's leading rushing RB.

seems like this was the year of the put-up-crazy-numbers offense...not so many great defenses.

i've been wondering all year if an offense first team is the wave of the future for cfb or if this year was an anomaly.

Sounds alot like LSUs defense last year, IMO. Statistically good -- but you couldn't count on them when the game was on the line.

Like LSUs defense vs Arkansas

Back to? When did Alabama ever start? Considering the all the doom and gloom threads this summer about Alabama's young defense, I thought it was impressive they fielded another national top ten defense.

But, but, but . . . Alabama still went 9-3 with almost everyone returning on offense and the #1 defense in the SEC. Who would have predicted that?

If you had told everyone here preseason that Alabama would return almost everyone on offense and end up with the #1 defense in the SEC and do anything except repeat as national champions, everyone would have thought you were crazy. And, if you would have said that they would have lost 3 games to LSU, South Carolina, and Auburn, people would have laughed you off the Rant.

Just goes to show that preseason predictions are worthless.

Injury luck was bad. Offensive line play cost Alabama the LSU and Auburn games. Those are two of the biggest things in winning football games.

Yeah, there's a lot that goes into winning football games. There are a lot of variables that can't be predicted.
