Unproven
Could be next Jimbo Fisher
Could be next Will Muschamp
Obviously he gives you a defensive presence.
My guess is Muschamp would sign on as def coordinator.
Like Saban he would need to bring in someone to run the offense.
Establishing recruiting base toughest part of USCe job. You compete head to head instate with Clemson in a state that lacks a ton of talent. You need to go out of state heavily to succeed.
I think someone like Dantonio would be a better fit but I don't think he leaves Mich St after building it up unless he thinks Harbaugh will steal his thunder but with the way Harbaugh is going NFL will come calling again.

I'd take a chance on him if I was South Carolina. He obviously knows defense and he has been groomed by one of the best program managers in the business.
This sounds like a stupid and limited thing to base an opinion on but when Smart interviewed for the Auburn job, he laid down conditions for Auburn to meet. I don't remember what those conditions were off the top of my head but I thought that indicated a man with a plan instead of a guy who was going to just be happy to be there.

I think it is a good fit. Mid level SEC program. Chance for success.

Well, outside of losing a pair of slacks here and there, I'd say he's pretty on the ball.

The question is, who will he bring with him?
If Kirby comes to SC, can he bring Napier, Cochran, Bo Davis and maybe Tosh?

If he can recruit get him and let somebody call the plays. Look at Dabo

How the hell would we know....we wanted DuBose as H.C. and look how that turned out.....
I don't recall a single UA fan that wanted DuBose. Everyone wanted Tuberville or Neuheisel, except for a handful of moneyed good ole boys who insisted the hire have ties to Bryant.
On topic, though, Smart is similar to Muschamp, but in a more intelligent, controlled way. I think he'll do well if he can find a solid staff.

I did some research and was able to find some info on how Kirby would be as a HC.

There is plenty of talent in South Carolina to build a solid roster around. Plus, they can raid North Carolina and Georgia, if need be.
Palmetto State recruits with Power Five offers, per season
2016: 27
2015: 29
2014: 35
2013: 29
2012: 31
2011: 43
2010: 41
2009: 44
2008: 36
Seems to be trending down, but still a good amount of solid, talented players with which to build a roster.

But most of them will go to Clemson now and play for Dabo.

Those are the four-star or greater prospects from the state of South Carolina per Rivals in each given recruiting class.
Should have clarified that, sorry.
I listed the team that signed the majority of the four-star or greater prospects.

Kirby Fart will fail as a HC

I'm not an Alabama fan but Kirby smart is a great defensive mind and if he becomes a head coach with the right staff and definitely offensive coordinator he would be a hellva coach on my opinion

Napier- Please.
Cochran- Please. I believe we need new blood in the S&C department.
Bo Davis- Please don't. Believe he's a good teacher and solid recruiter.
Tosh- PLEASE NO (and this is unlikely unless he'd be a coordinator). He's the best of the bunch.
