Alabama had 2 missed FGs in that game, 5 made FGs, and a TD. That's 8 drives without a punt and potential points.

LSU's offense didn't cross the 50 until the end of the game. Couldn't get first downs. Constantly kept the defense on the field and in shite field position. Turnovers that set Alabama up with even better field position. That the defense held Alabama only to 15 points off field goals for pretty much the entire game in that situation was indicative of just how good they were. McCarron also played his arse off that game. Made some really nice throws. When your offense was as abysmal as LSU's that game and you are playing against a team like Alabama with road graders and a bell cow back, and then you have a QB who is on his game, there's really not much any defense can do to keep points off the board over 4 quarters.

I agree, though, that coaching was the key factor. LSU should have recognized how hard it had been to win the last game and adjusted, but was cocky with the "we beat them at home" mentality

I don't think we were cocky per se, I think Miles was incompetent. The gameplan was to play Jefferson and only Jefferson and to run the fricking option all game long. It was embarrassing and pathetic. Les Miles was a stubborn son of a bitch.

Don’t come into this convo trying to act all serious and try to convince us LSU played a game worthy of the score and then pull that bullshite when the truth gets posted.

LSU actually kept it somewhat close. Alabama didn't score a touchdown until the 4th quarter. Being shut out in the National Championship is pretty bad though.

What about crossing the 50 yard line, that one is pretty important too......

Wrong game, bro. We were talking about 9-6.

That game where LSU did not cross the 50 was closer to the truth than the 9-6 game. Alabama was the better team in both games. LSU just had the good luck that Alabama was missing FGs in the first one.

Colt was the perfect QB for Tejas as he truly epitomized the pansy-arse history of a so-called blueblood program.

So if we are a pansy arse program then what's that make you when you have a losing record to the so called pansy program?

1-7 or 1-57, it doesn’t really matter. Bama is the most successful college football program of all time, by a wide margin. Texas is a never have been.

Haha...you have to admit though, that is a classic pic. And the score was the truth.

Although the LSU pick on the long pass was the biggest play in the game IMO and was very close to a huge play for Bama, it did take one hell of an effort from LSU's team to go in that environment and come out with a W. I think if Saban would have punted and pinned LSU on those prayer FGs he was trying, Bama likely would have won. But Bama was not a good FG-kicking team that year and finished ranked in the 80s in FG%. That was a bad coaching move.

If it makes you feel any better, even though 21-0 was still within reach in the 4th, it felt like 100-0 when it was only 9-0. LSU had zero chance of scoring on them that night and they took home the NC.

To be quite honest, I haven't given much thought to it or your pansy arse program. Seriously.

when Lacy ran 10 yards up the middle on the 3rd play of the game against ND, my friend and I laughed at each other.

The game was over.

I got out of the office late and was rushing home to watch and listening on the radio. I mean Bama just marched down the field that first drive, I wasnt even half way home before Lacy scored

Look st the Texas game, I disagree that Alabama could have named the score, but Alabama clearly was the better team. As the poster above said, Alabama was playing with some injured players as well. I also think Alabama had a few players with broken arms and legs

Clearly the better team? Maybe if Colt was healthy you can make that argument, but all that really matters is you won the game.

Gilbert had a great night, played way above his head, and Alabama did go conservative in the second half (most likely due to the score and to protect injured players. It was during that time that Texas made some plays that made the game close, but two FG in the first half, and two TD in the second half (of 44 and 28 yards) made Alabama go back to its game plan and score 13 points to put it away....

Serious question: did you watch this game? Your memory of it seems relatively inaccurate. Gilbert was under 50% passing with 5 turnovers. Alabama went conservative because they thought he wouldn’t do anything, not to save injured players. And Alabama didn’t go back to their game plan to put it away, at least not offensively.

Alabama may not have been able to name the score, but the game was really not that close....

You won. I don’t know why some of you need to make yourself feel like it was a blowout.

If Kiffin had found his balls and not been a huge weeping vagina of a head coach, USC should have beaten them. 22-13 and they go 0/4 from the 1 yard line. Their defense played great all day. Should have been able to punch it in and kick a winning FG.

I agree. I didn’t think the team was very good. But based on their resumé, there was no way you couldn’t put them in the National Championship.
