Bama-ND was easiest money since the UF/OSU &LSU/OSU games. USC-OU was another one.

I have a good friend that lives in Dallas whose family is Catholic (he went to Catholic schools all of the way through HS), so he's a pretty big ND fan. But he lived in Atlanta for a little while when he got out of college, so he readily admits that the SEC plays the best football. But I remember leading up to the SECCG I told him that I had gone back and watched a few of NDs games, and that the SECCG was going to be the defacto NC game. I told him that both Bama and UGA would smoke ND. He asked me if I really believed that, and I told him to watch the SECCG and get back with me. Well after the SECCG he called me up and admitted that Bama would beat ND by 3 TDs at least. You could tell he was totally deflated when he called me, and the game was still a month or whatever away.

Lol. A freshman qb. Was only down 3 with 3 minutes to go. Don't give me that knew we are gonna win bullshite. Yes colt going down had a lot to do with that. I still think it's a different game if he's not a pussy and goes down. But I'm not gonna sit here and cry over spilled milk. Bama beat us. Gilbert should've been more ready to go in case something happened. Like the 09 championship game. But it is what it is. We lost. Bama was the better team that day.

I’m temporarily coming out of retirement to remind you that Bama threw a total of 12 passes in that game and one of them was a missed read, botched fake punt on the first series of the game. We could have named the score. 2 different players ran for over 100 yards and scored 4 touchdowns between them against your #1 ranked rush defense who had averaged giving up 60 yards per game. Texas was trash, and we made your paper tiger of a program completely quit that night.

when Lacy ran 10 yards up the middle on the 3rd play of the game against ND, my friend and I laughed at each other.

The game was over.

I still hate myself for letting ESPN convince me in the days leading up to that game that Notre Dame's defense was elite.

And I'm here to remind you that we were down three. 3 fricking points with 3 mins to go. With a guy who hadn't played all year. Dude couldn't find his helmet for gods sake. Foh.

That doesn’t change a damn thing. Our QB threw less than 3 passes per quarter because he didn’t have to. Bama made your entire program QUIT. As it turns out, Colt McCoy was a microcosm of your entire football program. Get hit and lay down like a little bitch. Haven’t heard from either of them since then - McCoy or Texas football.

"More ready to go" ffs

It's a freshman coming in cold against Bama. He did as well as could be expected.

The real question is why did you guys not have a more experienced backup?

Tuscaloosa, I like you, but this statement is so unbelievably dumb. If you're only up by 3, late in the 4th quarter against a back-up QB, and the other team has the ball, you can't say you could have named the score.

We were up 24-6 at Halftime, and attempted a total of 7 passes after that point, including only one target to Julio Jones. We had 6 drives in which we didn’t even attempt a pass. And we won by 16.

It wouldn’t have been as one sided as the Notre Dame game, but we could have easily won by 30+ if Saban wanted to.

So he wanted to make it a close game instead of winning by 30?

C'mon man, that's ridiculous.

I’m sure the reasoning probably sounded something like this: “We’re up 24-6 against a QB who hasn’t played all year. Don’t do anything to frick this up.” It’s as conservative of a game plan as I’ve ever seen from Saban. Basically, run the ball, run the clock. Seems pretty obvious we went into “safe” mode.

11 total passes, with 6 drives that didn’t include a single pass.

Ironically, we weren’t so fortunate in the 2010 Iron Bowl, where he essentially did the same thing and ended up costing us the game. That was the last time I can remember Saban taking his foot off the gas trying to be “safe.”

Beating Washington was a breeze. (if you are talking playoffs) ND was easy too.

For clarity, my point is that if our mindset and game plan had remained the same for the entire game instead of closing it down early, we could have named the score. However, because we went way overly conservative, we found ourselves in that position of only being up by 3 points late.

The reverse happened to Spurrier. We got up 35-0 @ Tennessee in 96 and won 35-29. This was a couple of years after the Choke at Doak.

I disagree; I was there and I can tell you there were a lot of nervous Bama fans when UT scored with a little over six minutes to go to get within three.

Alabama's special teams were atrocious that game and had a lot to do with the score being so close; Bama had a botched fake punt and a muffed kickoff reception - both of which gave UT excellent field position - along with a missed FG and extra point. The game should not have been as close as it was late, but Alabama could not have named the score.

I was there too, and again, my point is that the absolute only reason the score was ever in reach was because we shut our game plan down early in an attempt to protect a big lead. In fact, I’m not sure how one could logically argue otherwise, as the halftime score was 24-6 and we attempted only 7 passes after that point, and only targeted Julio Jones once. Essentially the two teams had polar opposite game plans in the second half. Gilbert attempted 40 passes, which is what had to happen for them to have a shot at making it close.

We didnt pass much because McElroy had broken ribs and couldnt really throw and the backup was redshirting. Gilbert actually played pretty well for most of the second half while we were just trying to run the clock out, because all we could really do was run. That was certainly not a comfortable win.
