Someone explain this to me: some guy who has absolutely no connection to Alabama slips money to players of multiple schools in hopes that he can conduct business with them if/when they make it to the league. How does that make Alabama cheaters?

Well this would make them ineligible to play for Alabama. Therefore if they played, Alabama is violating rules and would need to vacate all wins accumulated while these players played.
