Just looked at Smith's Twitter and it looks like he just had an old high school teammate die from breaking his neck during a football game on Friday. He was Shaq Wiggins old teammate too.

Absolutely not excusing, but it might explain while he was being so wreckless and stupid.

I've gotten one before back when i was young and stupid, so im not gonna bash him..young people make mistakes and they learn from them

But he's got a tough road ahead to redeem himself whether he comes back or not

Best post in this thread.

He did something dumb...very, very, very fricking dumb.

I hope he realizes how much he fricked up and I hope that he learns from it.

I hope he is punished appropriately.

Apples and oranges. Possession of marijuana and DUI (possible) are not equal. Also, this - if true - would be Smith's first incident of any kind since arriving on campus. Not the see with McNeil.

You're right, the DUI is much, much worse.

Just about anyone who has ever drank regularly could or did get a DUI. A couple of beers, a tail light out....BAM!

DUI is retarded and puts needless lives at risk... unlike hill luckily there was/were no victim(s), but frick this was dumb. Sure there are worse crimes, but the ceiling for DUI to go way wrong is pretty damn high. @ geno

I wonder what you would all say if it came out that he was tagged with a controlled substance DUI based on the officers suspicion that he was operating under the influence of....da da da dummmmmmm....weed.

Don't really care what he did as long as no one is hurt. Does the team need him to win? If so, he should play.

Not going to act like an isolated DUI really bothers me at all. Cops should have given him a ride home. Bet it was that t-town cop with the auburn tag on the squad car.

Operating a vehicle under the influence of weed is more safe than operating it under the influence of alcohol.
