As was Hill's incident. DUI is worse than a bar fight but neither require heavy punishment from the school IMO.
I agree with this..You go look on the Bama board they're calling for his head like some people in this thread...people should realize 18-22 year old kids are going to drink, he just made the mistake of driving and got pulled over.

The dude is a THUG. And a predator. He could have killed someone. He should be in prison. Saban is a moral idiot.

I always love the those that take the moral high ground in any situation. It's never fails to make me laugh.
I think Geno should be put in the stocks on the quad and pelted with rotten fruit.
I wonder if that would satisfy the zealots?
Or maybe they would prefer a good horsewhipping.

Yes some GUMPS did say that...along with fans of every other fan base on this board.....I however didn't and just realized he threw one awkwardly terrible punch and was punished accordingly.

Alabama fans have no problem raking a black player over the coals to appear to have moral standards.

It's a shame how the general public is so quick to throw stones. I mean, I know we're going to jab at each other about the players problems but if people truly believe they should be kicked off the team for what the majority of college students do, then they're ridiculously delusional. Sit him a game or two and call it a day.

My exact standing on this issue....I mean they literally want him thrown off the team for his FIRST offense. It's insane to think that way.

No, I revisited the old J Hill threads and most Bama fans were actually pretty common sense. Most of the witch burners were Aggies. Not sure why.

Well to be fair this could be said about any fan base.

Aggies have to play the "let's make everyone hate us card"

August isn't over yet. I'm sure some LSU guys are planning something.

Apples and oranges. Possession of marijuana and DUI (possible) are not equal.
Get the frick out of here. Endangering someone else's life is a lesser crime than possessing a plant that endangers nobody?
ETA: I do agree with the first offense part, he can learn from it, Mcneal didn't so I'm glad he's gone (bullshite laws aside).

Just looked at Smith's Twitter and it looks like he just had an old high school teammate die from breaking his neck during a football game on Friday. He was Shaq Wiggins old teammate too. Absolutely not excusing, but it might explain while he was being so wreckless and stupid.
Well if that's the case he deserves to legally ride around and drink and drive.

We need to get smarter about DUI laws.
Not going to happen. Revenue stream, just like the WOD.

I hear ya but both are $$$ addictions we need to get rid of. Statistics have shown clearly that these programs, especially the war on drugs, have had an impact on murder, rape, all kinds of other violent crimes that are no longer solved or investigated at the level/rates they used to be since the government doesn't incentivize fighting or solving those crimes.
