If Jahvon Quinerly wins his appeal. Bookmark it. Nate Oats can coach and the group of players he’s inherited fit his system. Going to surprise a lot of folks.

I am liking the resurgence of the SEC across the board at all schools in basketball. Good to see

I’m sure you kept a close eye on his Buffalo teams.

I don't know about 3rd.

Having Jahvon Quinerly eligible would be a huge addition but losing both Rojas and Gary to season ending injuries means this team is likely a little weak rebounding.

I do agree that spots 3-12 in the SEC are as up for grabs as I have ever seen Every single team in that range has some quality talent and also some big question marks.

So far Oats is an A+ off season coach. Time to see what he is made of when it comes to gameday. I'm excited anyway.

I really liked Avery and wanted him to be successful, but it became obvious he was mostly personality, marketing and recruiting. Game decisions just didn’t make sense and we couldn’t make free throws or an inbounds pass. Oats looks like he is an Xs and Os guy with a high basketball IQ and a system that works. I’m optimistic.

WTF....did I just write all that about b-ball during Bama-LSU wek?

I’m liking the sheer number of good coaches in the league. Hopefully that means an extended period of good basketball.

Quinerly is really gonna be that big of a deal?

He averaged 3 points playing 9 minutes a game at Villanova.

Losing those guys was definitely not good. However, I'm going to hold off on worrying about rebounding just yet. Due to the fast pace of play, and taking a lot of 3's, rebounds will be longer and the defense won't necessarily be in position to box out. That leads to a lot of rebounds by quick, hustling guards. We saw that in the exhibition game where Alabama outrebounded Georgia Tech 44-32.

Oats will be like every other Alabama basketball coach before him. Mediocre. Look for Bama to finish around 5-8 regardless of Quinerly.

I think he’s the difference between finishing 5th or 6th in the league compared to 3rd.

Word from everyone who's reporting on their practices is that he's been looking a lot more like the 5 star prospect he was out of HS last year. It takes some players a year to adjust.

That said, I don't think he would really be a starter for Alabama but a huge difference maker to bring his quality into the rotation since he fits Oats' scheme perfectly and Oats' very fast paced style demands a lot of quality depth.
