Unless there is some major last minute screw up, Bama has finally put this matter to rest and has a new baseball coach - Goff.

He's an outstanding coach. I've often wished he was LSU's coach. One of those great people who are also coaches. He got a lot of performance out of not much talent at Tech.

I owe Bama fans an apology.
Bama offered Goff $300,000 a year...LaTech immediately matched the offer...talks with Bama bogged down that evening after the LaTech match.
Bama, having lost the last two on the football field to LaTech in 1997 and 1999 swore on their Crimson hearts that little ole LaTech would NEVER beat Bama again...in anything. Bama boosters played a nasty, late night card game in a smoke filled room...deep in the bowels of BD stadium....with a scent of bourbon and hooker perfume in the air....in an all in call, Saban lost a memorable game of GoFish and had to pony up the extra $150,000.
Bama upped it to $450,000 Friday mid morning and the deal was sealed.
