Fun fact: Alabama produced 0 Olympians before title 9 June of 72. LINK to rolltide dot com

Why not get rid of “Mens” and “Womens” sports and just have 1 co-ed team for each sport. Since Men and Women are equal, everyone is happy. No more Womens Softball- just Softball. No more Mens and Womens Basketball- just Basketball. Show up to try outs and make the team,

There is not a single HS player ready for the NFL in the entire country.

TV networks need to develop a big sponsorship of cfb with a big split to help with budgets ..and the sponsorship a big place in all games especially playoffs

There’s been enough really good true freshmen players in the history of CFB that some could have at least bypassed college and gone straight to the NFL.
Trevor Lawrence won a national title and torched Alabama as a true freshman. I think he could have held his own in the NFL straight out of high school.

Anyone can believe, but Sunshine hasn't been all that in the NFL. I think he was given diety status when he beat BAMA. That's just the way the sports world knows how to react when that happens. Personally, I still cringe just thinking about the Pete Golding effect. A true freshman and no pressure. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Now in year 4 of his rookie contract he is not elevating Jacksonville and he has a system and head coach that knows his stuff. In general, QB is not the position to go from high school to the NFL.

I can get with what you're saying, but who's going to control spending while all this new-age NIL money is being bidded? Not the schools, not the collective, and not the head coaches and ADs. How much longer before we break our own piggy banks?
I dunno.
The problem is no one wants to give up their deal. The fans want to win with “loyal” players, coaches and administrators want their big contracts, TV wants their cash cow, and the NFL wants someone else to develop their future players. And the balance is disrupted because players want to sit at the table now.
I personally think the “best” solution is for the fans to give up the illusion of loyalty from players (few of them have been going to schools because they love them anyway) and if some oil tycoon wants to pay Sammy Sixstar a bunch of money (through the guise of NIL) to go to Texas, so be it.
The most important figure for winning in CFB (once you get into the top 15-20 programs with all the money and resources) has been the HC and you could pay him the equivalent of the US GDP if you could scratch up the cash.
If you’re flat out buying coaches (mostly because of their recruiting ability) and already indirectly buying (or at least very heavily influencing) players through ridiculous facilities upgrades (no one would be doing all that shite if it weren’t for recruiting) then is it really that big of a deal to pay players directly?
If it is, then don’t watch. But this isn’t just about football. It’s a culture shift too. How many talented or beautiful teens and young adults are millionaires now that would have been horseshite freshmen walking from their dorm to English 101 had they been born a generation ago?
It’s just a different world now.

You didn’t say be a superstar in the NFL. You basically said good enough for a roster spot, which he was as a true freshman.
I guess another way of saying it is, have there been true freshman college players who were better than the worst NFL player at their position? I would say the answer is yes. And if you factor in overall value to a franchise, then definitely yes. A lot of NFL teams would dump their worst player if they could hand pick the best player coming out of high school and develop him.

Many a career has been made by beating Bama. Think about JM and Sumlin.

“Fewer scholarships (players) in football and in women’s sports.”
This is going to happen. CFB will have slightly larger rosters than the NFL. 65 (or maybe less) scholarships will be the max. Not going to be able to afford more with NIL/Transfer portal. In other words less players will now earn degrees. It will mostly be those who are pursuing a career in football playing in the future. Simple as that.
