Mcsorley was 31-9 as a starter in a crap league. His career completion % is under 60%. He went in the draft in the sixth round. 6th.
I know nothing about Stevens but criticizing him by trashing a kid who got Heisman votes is just silly. Especially with the fact that he only won 78% of his starts. 78%. Draft position is meaningless in regards to college performance and his completion percentage of under 60% was literally 59.3%.
No real point in bringing up that he holds the all-time yardage record at PSU. This take is laughably bad.

Bankrupt on defense? One of the best secondaries in the conference and a first round line backer is far from bankrupt. Know your shite before you comment. Our front 4 wont be what it was last year but everything else is intact

The highest I saw states secondary ranked in any of those preseason mags was sixth in SEC. That was only one of three I saw. The other two had them seventh.
How bout you put some names for players in the secondary and that first rounder at LB?

Errol Thompson. Secondary? PFF said Cam Dantzler was the best corner in the conference. Willie Gay is another top linebacker. Our defense will be fine. Offense? We will probably suck

Everyone looks good over the summer.
Jordan Jefferson apparently looked like Dan Marino during the 2011 MPA.
ETA And no not just from LSU writers. ESPN invited him on CFL TWICE that summer before and after the camp.

I would think if state had one of the best secondaries in the SEC you could name more than one quality DB. Most teams do play at least four in the secondary. Who else you got?
Of those three players you mentioned they were the only three I saw on any preseason all sec team and gay was only listed in one of the three magazines. Two of the three all sec teams went four teams deep the other one went three.
That's 121 players. Granted the better players will be listed on all three but, some marginal players might make someone's all sec and not the others.
State's LB group is top notch. Secondary mid-sec. Dline towards bottom third of sec.
We do play the games on the field and not internet message boards. Hope state beats the crap out of the weebles.

Cam Dantzler and Maurice Smithermann. Both are damn good corners.

You named the same one twice. OK you have a good set of corners. How bout safety? Nickle? Dime?
It takes more than a set of corners to be considered one of the better secondaries in the SEC.

Marcus Murphy, Jaylon Reed. Fresman Jarrian Jones and Fred Peters will make a huge impact as well. Like I said DLine is our one question mark. Expect Nathan Pickering to make a big impact as a freshman.
ETA and our entire Offense is a question mark. I for one am not optimistic

I was one of ten fans at the spring game. I liked what I saw from the OL and RBs. But the WRs and KT was yuck.
Hoping TS and Zuber fix most of that. But that won't fix the entirety of the WR issue.

I forget about our OL. Also will be one of the better ones in the conference. Did Charles Cross get reps? I was at the baseball game and never made the time to watch. Our receivers are terrible. Mullen couldnt recruit a wide out to save his life. Kylin Hill is our best offensive player and only when Joe gives him carries

four of the five guys you listed haven't played a single down for state yet.

I named freshman’s that would make an immediate impact? I even said it in the post. Book mark this thread. Our corners last year didn’t allow a single passing touchdown in coverage in the regular season. Only safeties and linebackers. We lost one corner last season.

let me get this straight. I asked for the other DBs in the secondary that will make state one of the better secondaries in the SEC and you responded with freshmen.
It helps the corners GREATLY when they have a fierce pass rush generated by the Dline. Where will that pressure come from this year?
