So someone give me a run down of what Texas A&M fans are arguing for me I am not reading 11 pages
Option 1:
AJ McCannon has a better team around him and that is why he wins compared to JFF?
Rebuttal: So Texas A&M is such a shitty team that a heisman caliber QB isn't even enough to push them over the edge?
or is JFF just not good enough to make a great team champions? I mean Cam Newton took a team with less draft picks, less ALL SEC players that was handicapped by what A&M fans say is one of the two worst coaches to win a NC and he still won a NC undefeated
Option 2:
quote:
Yet he cannot beat JFF. Sad.
Rebuttal:
JFF hasn't beaten Jeff Driskel or Zach Mettenburger. Isn't that even more depressing? Does that make them better quarterbacks?
Option 3
JFF has done the most statistically for his team
Rebuttal:
Case Keenum has a number of records and don't se eyou championing for him here

AJ McCarron is the best quarterback in the country. There is no comparing.

Stats are for teams who cant win championships.
Stats are what you judge an individual on, championships are what you judge a team on.
The pro football Hall of Fame begs to differ. Go to pro-football-reference.com and look at some of the QBs with better career stats...TD passes, yardage, passer rating...than Terry Bradshaw, and some significantly better, but the only way they'll ever get into the HOF is to buy a ticket.
At the QB position, winning championships is everything, and QBS are definitely judged by them.

No, we were arguing that championship rings don't, by themselves, make AJ the best. I don't recall very many serious arguments for JFF over AJ.

You don't know what hyperbole means do you?

How do you explain that Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Dan Marino and Dan Fouts are HOFers, but guys like Phil Simms, Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypien, Doug Willaims, Jim McMahon and Trent Dilfer are not?
Hell, Jim Plunkett won TWO Super Bowls, and was MVP of the first, but he isn't in the HOF.
Championships don't tell you who is the best QB. They tell you who is the best team. I have no idea why people believe otherwise.

The part about other factors coming into play, or the part about you thinking McCarron is a great QB? No, I read all that. The QB position is probably the one where championships are given more weight vs statistics. By comparison, if Bradshaw had been a running back or wide receiver and ranked similarly statistically, I doubt seriously he would be in the HOF.

You're talking about guys with stats that are through the roof...at or near the top in various categories. When I say that "winning championships is everything", obviously you do look at stats...but you brought up two great examples...Tarkenton and Kelly...who are most often remembered not just for being great but being unable to win the big game, despite being in the Super Bowl four or five times each.
You tell me why Bradshaw is in the HOF.

Because he did great in big games and had a great overall career in stats as well for the time period. He has several stat records in post season and and the super bowl. Had he merely done subpar in those events, he might not be in the HOF. His stats and performance in those events are why he is in the HOF, not just because he won the games.
Why isnt Plunket in the HOF, he has 2 rings?

AJ is no Taj Boyd.

In other news Robert Horry is the best Small Forward in the history of basketball.

And Manziel's stats are through the roof.
I can readily admit that Bradshaw is in the HOF due largely to his four Super Bowl wins, but he's the exception, not the rule. Or he should be. Giving so much credit for championships to the QB means you are shortchanging the rest of the team. QB is the most important position on the field, true, but assigning them wins and losses just does not reflect what football really is.
And I think we're getting away from that tendency in sports. The Cy Young award no longer nearly automatically goes to the pitcher with the most wins. A 17 game winner w/ a sub-2.00 ERA can win over a 25 game winner w/ a 3.00 ERA.

I think we decided that some people like stats and some like championships.
It really just depends on what type of person you are.

I don't know, but I don't think AJ is a spread offense type of QB.
AJ could be the best QB, but it's not because his team won 3 of the last 4 NCs, one of which he had ZERO part.

So, you agree that Robert Horry is the greatest basketball player of all time?

Posted on 5/30/13 at 5:27 pm to KaiserSoze99
Oh really. "Cut'em" was second down pass to the sideline to Norwood. Not saying he is best, nor would I label anyone else best, but the kid had two great NCs from the QB position.
