If his family can afford tuition for him and his brother at one of the most prominent private schools in Mobile, I'd say they're well-off.
Maybe not as wealthy as McElroy or John Parker Wilson's families...but McCarron's family has money.

Word around Mobile was that AJ was on "scholarship" at St.Paul's - which is certainly not unheard of where I live. If a private school wants an athlete, they can make a way for it to happen.
While I'm paying out the arse for two in private school in Monkeytown.

they were on scholarship. Many are nowadays here in Mobile. Someone pays their tuition for them. The school still gets their money.
