AJ Mccarron doesn't belong on the podium. He is a very nice QB and perfect for Bama. You put him on Georgia and he wins about as much as Aaron Murray. His teams are generally good and so is the line he plays behind as well as the players around him. That's not to say he isn't a fine player but nothing about him is exceptional....gets the job done and doesn't make mistakes very often....can't hate that. Heisman however is not a category for career QB's who may not have big numbers but they win behind powerful teams.

This is why team sports shouldn't have individual awards. It takes the whole team for one individual to be successful. So in reality no one deserves the Heisman. If JFF didn't have Mike Evans, would JFF's numbers be what they are? And if it is truly a statistical award why doesn't Mariota still have a chance just because his team lost a game. His stats are still pretty much the same.

Pick 6 and that other interception JFF threw didn't hurt

I don't think he will win it but should this be held against him. Alabama is usually up big in the 2nd half and Saban takes the air out of the ball. When McCarron has been needed to pass to establish a lead or to keep Bama in the game(A&M, LSU) he has answered the bell. Think what you will about the spread or HUNH offense but they have skewed offensive numbers to where they are almost pointless to use in an argument about who is better.

I'm saying that when Bama needed points they mixed up the run and pass almost identically.

Wow. You did t even get what he was saying. We threw the ball about the same as we ran it against A&M due to it be a close game. Calm down man.

Plus... there are a lot of Alabama run plays during the season ... maybe 30 plays or more, that were end of game run out the clock, kneel-down runs many of which AJ wasn't even on the field for. In the recent LSU game for instance, AJ stayed on the field and knelt the ball three times... those get credited as "runs" for zero or negative yards...

Humm, we've got to do something about our education system...

Is that like saying "The only reason A&M was in the game was because of the shockingly good offense they have this year?"

No matter why they won....they won. Nobody else has been able to stop Bama this year. If you don't like your defense....fix it.

The only reason Georgia has lost this year is because of a shockingly bad defense and injuries. However, the defense is bad and the injuries happened.

I have mixed feelings about Grantham. I would admit that I am probably very slow to pull the trigger on a firing, though.

One point in support of the OP - if the Heisman is not the most outstanding player, but the most VALUABLE player, then the award has just as much to do with how good your backup can play. That's sort of silly.

Alabama would be SCREWED without AJ...but how much of that is because the idea of starting Blake Sims is frightful (which has nothing to do with AJ)?

Why this campaign by mostly UGA fans about AJ not being heisman worthy? We all know that pro-style QBs can't win this trophy anymore. I don't know anybody who's clamoring for him to win.

To be the most outstanding player, you have to:

a) touch the ball every offensive down.
b) get more rushing yards than you leading rushing running back.
c) be able to make some outstanding plays with your feet by scrambling.

As it stands, guys like JFF, FamousJamis, RG3, etc. will win the Heisman for the foreseeable future. Pro-style QBs and RBs are out of the question.

No worries. AJ won't win the Heisman. He is a great college QB. He may make a great NFL QB. He will probably be invited to the Heisman ceremony, but he has zero chance of winning it.

Is it just me, or does spelling dog with a "aw" really make people look stupid? It's kind of like pluralizing things with a "z".

Yet he beat all three of those guys. Not saying he should win, hell I hope he doesn't. We want team awards.

That's at least slightly better than your chances in IB.
