Just watched on You Tube "no huddle". I'm concerned. We were lucky to win that game. The o line sucked.
ASU dropped a lot of balls that could have been the difference in the game.
I'm not confident at all. But then, I've been an Aggie fan for a lot of years.I'm used to it.
How's that.

What's "no huddle"?
Last question, what happened to Speedy's role? I only remember him catching one pass and it was on the last play before half. I'm assuming this game was an anamoly and that he will be targeted more? Unless he was targeted more in the part that I didn't watch. Just seemed like they really wanted to get Kirk the ball, but didn't make any effort to get it to Noil... Shoot even Reynolds, I don't remember seeing a ton of.

Couple of those absolutely should have been caught. They would have been for short 1st downs but you never know what could have happened had they gotten them.
Actually it was a lot like last year for us, passes thrown in the backfield or maybe 1 or 2 yds, was Spav calling ASUs plays

Speedy was n the doghouse

Speedy has been a little hobbled the week before the game, they held him out of practice. Just nicked up from fall camp.

Correct.
And I'm concerned with the play calling. Sumlin said in a presser that they were intentionally extremely conservative. Unfortunately that was the case a lot last year, so I'm skeptical. Since KK left for Tech, a lot of our big plays are broken plays that the athletes made happen. Hoping to see a much bigger variety against Arkansas.

1) The philosophy, design, and engineering behind ASU's defense is all about our style of offense. Say what you have to about them. I was there and I was impressed. They're fast. They're very smart. The mind their assignments with excellent discipline. You said their DBs looked suspect. I saw very adequate man-to-man coverage. And those blitzes were brilliant and relentless.
2) Yep. I'm worried about our O line. First games are first games. I hope.
3) We ran the ball up the middle WAY more than I was digging it. Sumlin made hires and promises in the off season re the running game. It was pretty obvious that we were over-rolling the new foundation.
EDIT: Losing James White early probably made a huge difference. The advantage of being able to run him around the end (and not JUST Carson up the middle) should be obvious.
4) Lots of positives. A few negatives. It was one game. I don't expect any of us will have a clear picture of what to expect re our play calling until the State game, if not the Arky. If not the Bama.

No worries yet. ASU's blitzes had our young left side of the OL perplexed for sure. But I expect that to be corrected in the 2 upcoming OOC games. If that continues to be a problem against Arkansas then maybe it will be time to panic.
I don't expect either Kyle or Kyler to continue to throw dumb interceptions. That's not to say they'll be perfect, but both of those ints were pretty egregious and I'm sure they'll be... "discussing" those.
Other than that, there were too many dropped passes. A couple by the same guy. I don't know that playing cupcakes can help that, so I guess that's a concern. But I think they'll be OK.

The defense has taken so much pressure that 40 points on offense will get it down now. We have some time to sort out some timing issues. We're prepping for Bama from here on out.
