Like normal? They have only performed that well 3 times in the last decade.
A decade that represents almost the worst in school history. Only during the 60s did we experience less success. Instead of Vietcong decimating our program, Fran did. I'm really not sure which is worse.

Also the most relevant decade to a discussion about what is happening in the present or future.
And yes, I am a little bitter that we owned that arse in recent years and then move to the SEC and all of a sudden aTm becomes a contender and our O-line and QB play is the worst in a decade. Chapped arse.

It's not the most relevant. If considered in the context of our history, it's anomalous. It certainly isn't hindering our trajectory today.
You owned Fran and Sherman--so did everyone else. But I admire your candidness. You'll right the ship in due time.

the Southeastern Conference's largest stadium is Neyland Stadium at the University of Tennessee, which holds 102,455
But second to Bryant-Denny Stadium's average attendance of 101,821.

It's because you'll never be good. You could never win the Big 12 and you'll never win the SEC.

But we'll have 75k students in 7 years,
I highly doubt this. I know there is an initiative in the Engineering college to dramatically increase enrollment, but the faculty that will need to be hired as well as facilities that will need to be built will make 75K unlikely to happen in this time frame.
Where will A&M get the money for this? It's not like the Lege is just signing blank checks, especially for higher ed, and the PUF is not the giant fountain of money most people think it is.

It'll most likely be discussed today, FF; but donors have stepped up in a huge way--obscenely so. Much to be proud of in that regard.

Also, there's a rumor that a "big surprise" will be unveiled today. Some believe a large corporate sponsor has come forward. But that's pure speculation.

EKG: I'm sure donors have stepped up big time for the Kyle Field renovation. I hope they are able and willing to do the same to fund the academic facilities. George Mitchell has been fantastic in that regard and I hope he can get some of his successful buddies to contribute as well.

My apologies, FarmersFight. I misread your post. I thought you were referring to athletics.

I doubt we actually get to 75k in 7 years, more like 15 to 20. We do have the money though because most of that expansion is about building and the PUF can be used for that. It also is a pretty damn big money spigot. It's $8 Billion on the way to doubling again in the next few years because of the price of oil and rare minerals that is all over the PUF land.
The greater point though is A&M has 370k living alumni today with 53k students and Texas has 27 million people in it, over 80% of which live within 250 miles of Kyle Field. We graduated over 12k last year and that "replaces" classes of the 30's-50's that were about 1-2k max. That trend will continue over the next decade plus, only the number of grads will increase. A&M has also raised our grad rate significantly from a 6 year grad rate in the 50-60 percent range when I was in school to 86% last year.
Any way you slice it you are looking at a lot more students, a lot more graduates, and a lot more people living within driving distance of campus. We will fill the expanded stadium, maybe not for every game initially but for most of them and within a few years for all of them.

More than once I've implored aggressor to consider brevity. He's a good poster with good thoughts. But frick, I come here because I get tired of reading lengthy motions and briefs.
Aggressor, please stop making me elide over your posts, brother. Do this for me.

What majesty should be, what duty is,
What day is day, night night, and time is time,
Were nothing but to waste night, day, and time;
Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit,
And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,
I will be brief. Your noble son is mad. . . .
