What is weird is that Texas won Big 12 championships while A&M is was in the Big 12, then haven't won since they left.

The answer to your question is the cOcksUcker.. well that and we have sucked. OU has won 7 of 9 since A&M left and they won 7 of 16 before they left..

OU owns the Big 12 and it isn’t close.

That is interesting. I've always wondered how the SEC would explain A&M doing in the SEC about the same as they did in the Big 12.

Also, look how Mizzou walked over everyone in the east for the first few seasons.

The Big 12 wa The Big 12 was quite good from 1996-2004.
At least 3 National Titles

OU in either ‘99 or ‘00. Texas got the VY NC in ‘05, so outside of your timeline.

Name the other two Big XII NCs. Should be easy for you…there were at least three.

Here is the difference..

Texas says that they have sucked the last 9 years..

Texas A&M thinks they are amazing the last 9 years.. but they really are the same team they have always been.. Good. But not great.

A&M is better now that they are in the SEC and Texas is suffering because of it. Texas now knows that they need to join the SEC or they would keep crumbling.

Now when Texas joins the SEC they will be a better team, but just looking at Conference Win-Loss record will not tell you that.

I’m torn on it if I am being honest..

This year, I think A&M is way overhyped, but the last 3-4 years, I think they are definitely have a good team. Is it better than the 1998 team that won the Big 12? I’m not sure about that. Their team makeup is completely different now.. but that 1998 team was pretty good.

One reason it is hard to answer is because Alabama is that good. It is an expected loss and its almost like it is ignored.

The other reason is that the SEC hype machine is very real. 8-4 in the SEC is big boy football. But 8-4 is really just 4-4 in conference and 4-0 OOC, mostly against cream puffs. While it isn’t bad, it’s nothing special, and it does mean you have a good team.

It’s all very puzzling to be honest.

How do you explain A&M’s success in 2012? They will say Johnny. I get it.

What about Missouri? They will say the East sucked then.

None of it matters until Texas gets better..

Nebraska.. you are right I counted 2 for Nebraska, it should have been 1.

Texas and A&M seem so similar to me over the past decade. Their Johnny football team probably was better than any of ours but other than that, it seems about even.

What do you think will be out biggest issue when we join the SEC?

A&M knows it is now or never for them. They're putting every thing they got into a push before the SEC expansion happens. Then they lose whatever advantage they had.

I don't now any Aggies that think this last 9 years has been the best era of A&M football. We had a few decent years like last year and with JFF but no Championships. Not terrible but certainly not great, this is by far the longest stretch we have gone without a Conference Championship.

Best 9 year stretch for A&M was probably '85-'94. 6 Conference Titles plus an undefeated season that would have been 7 if not for probation. Longest SWC winning streak in history. 2 long home winning streaks. No Nattys but a lot of hardware. '19-27 we won 2 Nattys but that was leather helmet days.

How can we go 8-1 in the regular season but 0-0 in conference games in 2020? Did I miss something?

Year (Conference Record) (Conference) (OOC*)
* not including bowl games

2020 8-1 SEC 0-0

8-1 in SEC play
0-0 in OOC play

All 9 games were SEC games due to Covid.

Just for shits and giggles, I checked UTx’s record against the SEC since 2012. It is 3-4 with losses to Ole Miss, LSU, and Arkansas (twice). Wins against Mizzou, Ole Miss and UGA. To dive a little deeper, UTx is 1-4 vs the SECw and 2-0 vs the SECe. Maybe y’all will get the Missouri treatment and get shoved in the East. Otherwise, it looks grim Longhorn.

You might say.. well the SEC is a lot tougher than the Big 12.. while that is true today, you could definitely argue otherwise from 1996-2004.

You're recruiting better with that SEC logo o your chests.
