What's with aTm and shitty music?
I've no idea what is wrong with young folks and their crappy music, but I think that's universal and not just an A&M thing. And yeah I know I just had a "get off my lawn" moment.
FWIW Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen are performing on campus tonight.

Drake & Jay-Z are members of BBN. UK has all the hip-hop artists. The basketball team gets all the credit for this but I think it's because Kentuckians have always been considered very "dope" by the hip-hop community. I'm not saying we're "fly" or "phat" but I think rappers understand we're "down" with it.
you sound extremely proud

I wasn't bashing Drake. I was bashing you. I'd never heard any of his songs, figuring from the rap label that he sounded like so many other rap idiots with "Ah... Ah... Ah... I..." followed by pointless profanity that you seem to think is musical. So I looked up one of his videos and was not disappointed. Beautiful. When the song ends, it reminds me of why it feels so good to stop beating myself in the head with a hammer.
Robert Earl Keen indeed is not an especially good singer, but he's an excellent entertainer and songwriter and along with Lovett is a former student from back in the days when there was actual music on the radio.

I'm a black guy who favors country and contemporary christian music, and I think your view is incredibly myopic.
It is a music genre, that's it. I really have no patience for music snobs. I listen to a broad range of music and it helps you appreciate and relate to so many people when you're open about that.

Well since we're telling- I'm a white woman plenty old enough to dislike it myself but I remember cruising listening to nwa if that tells ya anything and I have to say I still like some of new rap. Just like I like some of all major genres- contemporary, rock, alternative, country (with country probably being my least fave) etc. However in my opinion finestfirst (or whatever his name is) seems like a good enough guy and from what Ive noticed I hold him in higher accord on here than that other one
he was going back and forth with so I'm giving him a pass on his music taste.

You're right, of course
Music snobs are just a pet peeve of mine.
Sorry for going off on you, finestfirst.

Rap died over 20 years ago when these guys faded away.
