Did UT’s best players sit out their 14-0 loss to USC in the bowl games in preparation for the draft?
All American and soon to be number one overall pick in the draft George Cafego missed the game due to an injury. Also star player and future coach Bowden Wyatt hardly played due to injury.

Now do the 1919 team that was untied, undefeated, and UNSCORED on and somehow is not the national champion.

Neither of us have seen our team win a national title.
Are you shopping for back to school yet?

Most of the titles pre 1980s barely make sense most years.
If you look back there's undefeated teams that end up ranked #6 not to mention the teams awarded championships that would then lose their last game.
The pre 1960s championships are almost a blind dart toss.
They made sense within the context of the times...pre '80s because who beat who in the bowls mattered... What conference you played in mattered.
Pre late 1960s the bowls didn't count... so I'd say you are a little more accurate with the "blind dart toss" analogy. So effectively you had a 9-10 game sample... and the team and program's reputation played a huge part in who was awarded a wire service NC. Particularly pre season hype.

I've never wanted to smash anyone in the face as much as Hillary when she said this.

USC’s 1939 national title claim officially took place before the 2004 season.
1939 USC Football
Exactly. Aggy claimed it in 1939, so it counts. USC claimed it in 2004, so it doesn't count.

Folks are always talking about how much money aTm has. Maybe they had enough money in 1939 to change a few votes their way.

Bama fans can’t seriously start threads like this lol. I hate aggy as much as the next guy and actually root for Bama when OU isn’t playing them but Bama fabricated more ncaa championships than any school not named Yale or Harvard

quote:point is strike one, give one at the end of the day bama has double digit undisputed national championships reflecting a championship program. But in aggies case if im gonna gloat about a mere 1 season...id at least like it to be more definitive than this. Maybe a 2012 shirt since they beat the champ in ttown. We all pretty much know that was aggies biggest achievement
Jamal, you, as an Alabama fan, should not question an AP national title of another program when your school proudly displays 1941 (AP #20) as a legitimate national title. You need to understand how things worked back in the day. Many programs in a given year have legit claims to a national title, but AP and/or UPI can only choose one.

It’s more legit than that 1941 title y'all claim
