I didn’t think so, but that’s not what I asked. Who’s the final 4 team?

Some talking heads are predicting Bama in the final 4.

A&M was like 17 in NET (their own BS metric) and got a 7 seed. How does that happen...
Yeah this was BS too. Aggie should have got a 4 or 5 at worst
I thought they used a hybrid of NET, RPI, and KenPom... or at least NET and RPI.
Tennessee is 22nd and A&M 24th in RPI. That help explains Tennessee's placement in contrast to their NET rankings.
That being said, the tournament does have SOME impact. Pretty sure if Kansas wins the Big 12 tournament, they're the #1 overall seed.
I agree that you have to rack up some good wins to get into the tournament if you weren't already. Going deep in the tournament when you're looking at the Q1 teams you might have played all being upset doesn't amount to much.
For example, all 3 of Alabama's opponents were Q1. If Vandy gets those and wins 2 out of 3, that would help a lot more than a Q3 win over LSU to go with the Q1 win over Kentucky.

I wasn’t aware they had beaten Bama, that’s why I asked. Must have hit a nerve with him…

Let’s pretend A&M won today. Can you imagine getting a 7 seed after beating a final four quality team twice in a week?
I imagine if you beat Alabama today your seed is a good bit higher; not only because you would have the win but you would also not have a 19 point loss.

Conference rankings mean shite to the committee, and for good reason. It’s the same reason conference championships don’t mean much to many fans. The conference schedules are nowhere close to being even. It’s a bad metric to use when trying to decide how good a team is

Idk Vandy had a bad loss late too. Losing to LSU really did them in.
But losing to Grambling an HBCU at home.. Ouch.

I thought the talking points are that the tournament doesn’t matter? Just trying to wrap my head around the logic.

Starting to realize the actual games mean very little. Just look at Tennessee.
Wrong.
You've got to win AND look good doing it. That's life. Suck that shite up buttercup.

But…. Games played in November, and early December, when teams are trying to figure out who & what they are, should matter a lot more???
What a joke!!
How a team plays in Conference, especially a top flight one, should matter far more than what they did, or didn’t do, at the beginning of the season.

I agree with this. Teams can improve as the season moves along. They should be as equally rewarded for what they do late as they are punished for what they do early

All A&M had to do was not lose to 3 mid majors and a terrible Colorado team at home.
Hate/love to see it.
