I'm an LSU fan and I think he's a nice addition to your program. The bend but don't break style suits your explosive offense. His style will turn drives that went for 7 against you last year into field goals. The style is complementary.

Well, this isn't the board for LSU fans to discuss their coaching staff. If a thread was started here it probably got moved to the TR pretty quickly.

I also think it's funny how people are saying it was time for him to go as if it was him holding us back. If our defense had been has bad as our offense last year, we wouldn't have made a bowl game.

Maybe. but you have to understand...you guys circled the waggon on here. maybe you criticized him on your own board a lot. Hey, every coach gets criticized, but you guys act like he was totally inept after he left.

Not one single person has said this. Not one.
If Chavis can get our defense in the top-50, we'll be in very good shape going forward. We don't need a top-10 defense to win games like LSU does. We were a missed FG away from winning the west and being in the national title game in 2012 with a defense that was in the high 40s.

It's beyond idiotic. Every time the D would have a late collapse the Tennessee fans would be here saying we told you so. Some LSU posters would defend him, others would agree. As time passed there was more and more bitching about the collapses.
We don't even need to discuss his disdain for recruiting. It's not a problem when you've got the fences up and are rolling. When Saban et al are hitting La hard you need all hands on deck. Chavis DNGAF.
I'm sure a change of scenery will light a fire under him for a while.

Oh for sure. Folks who are embracing losing him are just being fans. You know how it works. But I'm just saying you don't have to pick a side of the fence. I can embrace his abilities and still recognize his pitfalls in the same sentence.

Is this the board for LSU fans to be discussing A&M coaches? i think it has more to do with him going to A&M than anything. had he gone to UCLA, Oregon or some place like that it would have been put to bed. I mean, LSU fans STILL making threads about him?

I agree
All A&M needs is a defense that holds teams under 21-24 PPG on average for the season. Only a select few defenses in conference can expect to regularly hold us at or below those numbers (namely, Bama and LSU and Bama had a hell of time the first two years). Taking LSU's coordinator was as big if not bigger from the perspective of stealing away the one coach who has consistently limited our offense every year. Chavis, for all the shite he gets from LSU fans, is statistically the best defensive coach against spread passing attacks in CFB over the last 15 years.

aTm's scoring D was top 30 in 2012. They may have been top 25.
This whole "all we need is a top 50 defense to win titles" narrative by aTm fans is ignorant.

Well you're making general assumptions like you know so many LSU fans or something. plenty on this board have criticized him as well. Maybe go back and find some game threads or something. I posted in them. I've seen them. You don't know what you're talking about and considering there are hundreds of thousands of posts on this board, to say that no one on here has criticized him is just plain stupid. And as soon as I have a few minutes on my hands, maybe I'll go back and find some for you to prove you wrong.

You're just coming across as whiny at this point. If you don't like certain threads on this board, do like me and avoid them. It's super easy. You just read the thread title, come to a conclusion that the thread is not necessarily worth your time to read, and move on to the next one.

Yes, it is actually. This is the board for fans to discuss other teams with other team's fans. It's not the board for LSU fans, or any teams fans, to discuss their own teams issues with their own fans. That's what the team boards are for.
