At this point it appears that this staff simply doesn’t recognize the serious nature of head/neck/brain injuries.

Brooks was misdiagnosed in August 2023. He played in two games against Florida State and Grambling before undergoing the MRI that showed he had a brain tumor.

As bad as it is that LSU’s medical staff allowed a player with a brain tumor to go a month before ordering an MRI they learned nothing from it.

In November 2023 Jayden Daniels was concussed on a hit from Dallas Turner. Despite obvious signs of a concussion, after being evaluated by LSU’s medical staff he was sent back out on the field after missing only one play. It was clear to everyone he wasn’t there mentally and he was physically unable to play, but that didn’t stop the LSU staff from sending him back out there on the field.

If there is one type of injury that coaches and medical staff should be hyper conservative about it is head/neck/brain injuries. Yet here in two well documented cases with team captains they have trotted them back out on the field when everyone could see something was wrong with them.

This is the crux of it. If OLOL or the LSU medical staff had performed a MRI a couple of weeks in, this would be a pretty open and shut case because there would be no case.

But when they misdiagnosed it and let the player go through fall camp and play in the opening two games, all while having a brain tumor that required immediate emergency surgery, everyone involved opened themselves up to some pretty harsh scrutiny.

How in the hell do you let a SEC football player who is exhibiting obvious and ongoing neurological symptoms go over a month without an MRI?

Don’t say it is normal, because it is not. This is not some random homeless guy, this was an SEC player who should have had access to world class healthcare.
