If he could afford to take the entire OL out for steak and lobster then he was already getting paid, or just spoiled rotten

All this crooked shite is going to happen right here right now in college football

Totally agree.

I'm happy for the players themselves, but none of this will change the "ethics" of the game one bit, IMO.

Like you, I'm afraid it could actually make it worse.

Yeah, I'm really curious to see how this plays out.

Somebody is going to waaayyyy overpay for player sponsorship, and the market is presumably going to correct as a result.

I wonder if any of these contracts have (or even can have) performance guarantees? As in, if they suck, they don't get all of the money?

Go back a few years, how any athletes would have had any real national appeal ? Mayfield, Lawrence and maybe Burrow in early November would be worthy of a national campaign. That is why I think NIL is just more booster supported welfare.

I guess it should be apparent after a couple of years when we see certain recruits getting similar deals.

Miami may have already found a way around this, because giving them out to the whole team could obfuscate it a bit.

I think the 4 AU athletes figured it out early. Setting up Camps will be very profitable in the future. Having them hook up with former players will be a big draw with a bunch of money to be made. Then pursuing sponsors for the camps will add to that money. Think about one on one coaching these players can do, even during the season.

Not sure too many coaches will go for that.
