He had a severe case of T H U G!!! He was a gang banger in HS. He may have had CTE but that it not what made him a murderer.

And I've got some ocean front property in Arizona. If you'll buy that I'll throw the Golden Gate in free...

I saw this coming when he took his life. Its total BS, because his thug behavior started long before he was at UFla.

While he's still a POS. Man I don't even remember him being concussed especially at UF. And he wasn't a 15 year vet either.

I'd be interested to know how this goes. NFL may start seeing a rash of retirements.

Well at the very least it is interesting that someone who had played only 3 years in college and 3 years in the NFL had such severe CTE.

I don't think that's it at all. The family is just trying to wrangle money out of the NFL.

Doesn't matter, he's officially an innocent man.

I really don't know what people are thinking when they poo poo this stuff.

Assuming for the moment that this Boston U. lab is acting independently of anyone's agenda, and the test results are accurate, in a way Hernandez's crimes are almost a separate issue. Be an interesting case, because whey couldn't they blame UF for this?

I'd really like to know how many college and pro football player's brains have been autopsied so far that have shown NO evidence of CTE?

Was trying to search for what was happening with non-invasive CTE testing, but it is coming. Whether it is two years, five year, I do not know. But it is going to happen.

And if they find evidence of it in college players, worsening year on year, occuring for the first time, and find 5 or 10 percent of high school players with it, what then?

Before whoever wants to trot out the figures on girl's sports and concussions... well maybe they go too, I dunno.

But football seems like it is going to face a real crisis in the very near future.

This is like that Talleb book about the Black Swans. People underestimate the chance of a catastrophic event, rather than figure up things on a probablility/possible cost standpoint.

And by that I mean college, pro, and high school football, along with any pee wee league type stuff going the way of the buggy whip.

What I suspect will eventually be found is that it is more common in the general population and having it doesn't correlate as closely to some of the things it is being blamed for now. There are already scientists pointing out that the numbers for suicides and other behaviors some are trying to tie to CTE are in fact lower in former NFL players than in the general population.

But for now, there is money to be made and hysteria to be sewn so CTE here CTE there CTE everywhere.

Big difference between having a conviction retired do to being permanently under appeal than being deemed innocent. His family might still get $40 mill from the Patriots though.

How valid is the science behind CTE?
Is it indisputable? Could there be some genetics behind the "CTE" diagnosis?

Just curious as I admit I have not done a lot of research or reading about CTE.
