Maybe so for South Carolina but that is exactly Missouri's line of thinking when wanting to keep A&M. They have always recruited Texas and playing A&M every year would definitely help recruiting the state.

If you read any Cock board, they would prefer to have A&M because a lot of them are tired of us beating their asses every year.

Not chest-thumping, but that seems to be the reason so many Carolina fans support it.

LSU isn't trying to ditch Ark, just changing the date which I'm all for...

I'm fine with it. Always thought A&M was an intriguing opponent. From a competition standpoint, A&M will be tough once they get up to speed, so from that standpoint it's a wash. From a rivalry standpoint, it doesn't matter. Both Arky and A&M are too far away geographically for any real rivalry to develop.

Still don't think we're going to be recruiting Texas.

I personally would prefer to keep Carolina, but thats because I'm tired of changes. I don't really give a crap about Missouri, and if we manage to take out their only recruiting ties to Texas, they'll be even weaker in the future. I don't see how we "lose" anything with this.

It doesn't really make me much difference. Carolina turns back a lot of tickets every time they play in Fayetteville because its just so damned far for them to travel.

I'm actually seeing a rivalry coming of Arky-Mizzou... that is if Mizzou can field some competitive teams in the future.

Aggies seem to want this because they think it will make them feel "more SEC" to not be playing a Big 12 team every year.

I agree with this to some extent--there is no sense of "newness" or excitement that comes with us playing Mizzou. None. Even when we'd beat them, it'd be anticlimatic for us. Tired of seeing them.

Bring on USC

I bet Mizzou suffers a lot in recruiting Texas for this. Not that one game matters that much, but its at least something to have tieing them to the big Texas metros.

A kid leaving Plano drives north and he can be in Fayetteville in under 4 1/2 hours.

Columbia, MO is over twice as far away. Missouri should kick and scream about this, but who knows what will happen.

If you don't see it happen with Arkansas-LSU, with which we have a long history, you can count on it not happening with Missouri where there's not much history at all.

Arky has a 20 year head start and thy have the same number of SEC championships as Mizzou.

I can see it happening, but being stronger from the Mizzou side, just because they don't have anybody else to hate.

Arkansas already hated Ole Miss some when we joined the SEC. That game had been played more often than a lot of the old SWC games. LSU had been on a hiatus, but there was history there.

We have almost no history with Mizzou, but Fayetteville is an easy trip for them to make. I think in NWA there is going to be some bad blood, although most of Arkansas doesn't associate themselves with Missouri a lot. There's a pretty huge rural, mountainous area separating the two states' population bases, and apart from those living in and around NWA, most Arkansas fans aren't going to get all fired up about Missouri.

If there's a sleeping giant of a potential rivalry for Arkansas, it would be Oklahoma. If they ever join the SEC, that one will get nasty quickly.

Umm... I know this is simpleton flame fest fodder from the Aggy, but what is the downside here again?

I laugh at Aggy for thinking this is a negative for us. So it must be you're so much of an influence on the SEC offices. Is that the gist?

They don't realize that the primary factor driving South Carolina to support it is that they think they have a better shot of beating A&M most years.

I actually think we have a better shot of beating Mizzou than Carolina, because Carolina is the superior program, and only getting better every year.
