If New Mexico State can contain the QB and hold him to -2 rushing yards.. I think it says New Mexico isn’t very good rushing the ball. I didn’t watch the game.. were they designed runs? Scrambles?

Either way, you were the same as New Mexico State in that category..

But, given the QB performances in games 1 and 2, the QB's ability to run is the biggest factor in the run game vs. Aggy defense, right?

Clearly Tech destroys A&M..

I'm going to assume you know the final score was Texas A&M 52, at #21 Texas Tech 30.

Then again, the game wasn't televised anywhere (one of six A&M games not televised at all that season).

Kent State Top 3 RB
20 Carries for 137 Yards
Crum had 11 for 60 Yards
All 4 of them over 5.0 YPC

Colorado Top 2 RB
24 carries for 90 yards
Lewis had 9 carries for 76 yards

It isn’t just the QB imo.. but having a QB that can run helps the entire offense.

If Arkansas runs the ball 40 times on Saturday..

Over/Under 200 yards rushing? I’m saying Over.

I didn’t bother to even look. You wouldn’t have asked the question if A&M hadn’t won the game.

no, of course not. How are you going to stop all those monster RBs?

The fact that you don't know your arse is about to get kicked is amusing, not gonna lie.

Here's a more in-depth analysis: Big Plays (20+ yards).

A&M has allowed 3 plays all season of 20 or more yards.

Arkansas had 5 plays of 20+ yards against Rice (152 of 373 total yards), 7 plays of 20+ yards against t.u. (206 of 471 total yards) and 6 plays of 20+ yards against Georgia Southern (319 of 633 total yards)

That's 19 20+ yard plays. Of the 26 drives in which Arkansas didn't hit at least one 20+ yard play, they scored 40 total points (17 against Rice, 9 against t.u., 14 against Georgia Southern).

Not to rain on the A&M hope that the hogs have two o linemen out….if they are out they are replaced by two near starters…with 3 others behind them that are quite ready to roll.

Well, true we don't NEED them but both injured players will be available Saturday. Definitely Ricky will- he told me himself he's playing.

Agreed our backups are better than our starters as well. We like to start with the backups for more reps

Now, go look at who had all the big plays vs. A&M.

The QBs.

Felt good about this game until I learned of our OL injuries. With that I think A&M can beat us up front enough to win

That’s some good analysis right there..

However, I have no idea if it is worth anything at all. 5 of the opponents y’all played aren’t very good..
Texas may not be great, but they are a lot better than the other 5 teams.

To beat Arkansas..
1) You need a mobile QB to make their LB’s pause before they crash
2) You need to hit the deep balls when they come open
3) You need to force Jefferson to throw the ball into tight coverage
4) You need to hold them under 5.0 YPC

Texas didn’t do any of those things. Therefore our defense got completely worn down in the 2nd half.

With as bad as our offense was in the 1st half.. 16-0 was a miracle. It easily could have been 24 or 28 to nothing.

If they get a lead on you.. they are going to lean on you big time and it’s not fun to watch.

Arky is dedicated to running the ball a lot.

250 yards rushing on the 40 carries you mentioned

To sum that up, we need to make KJ beat us with his arm, not his feet. Anything else should take care of itself.

1. Calzada isn’t a featured runner but can move the sticks from time to time.

2. I agree that the downfield passing game will be important against Arky’s defense as they try to crowd the LOS.

3. As stated previously, I expect the plan will be to force KJ to throw.

4. 5.0 ypc is easier said than done. On average that might not happen, but stuffing a known running down or third and short is what really matters.

I also don’t expect Arky to get pressure either with 3 DL. That cannot happen.

It’s interesting that you haven’t noted anything that Arky needs to shore up.

Same with the Colorado game. In A&M's first 6 drives, they ran 18 plays for 14 yards. The defense was on the field for 43 plays in the first half and gave up 7 points.

I mean, sure, but that's easier said than done. He is going to TRUCK your defenders. You'll see why he's called Cam.
