We will renovate Kyle Field, but the plans changed with our announcement of heading to the SEC. We can now count on 1,000s of opponent ticket sales along with our own and will adjust accordingly.
Talk about unintended consequences ... I was integral in making it happen ... the problem at the time was the Corps members that were in fraternities were doing march in, heading back to the dorms, and getting out of uniform and maxin' and relaxin' in their khaki pants and button downs. Great idea for them personally but bad for morale at a Senior Military College.
Hence, Corps leadership decided to put everyone together for accountability. The only problem is that Freshman get the lowest tickets on the sidelines, and those guys have no hair and are only a year out of high school--their wool-pulling ability is, on average, low. And that's what TV shows though, so there are your unintended consequences.
Yell Leaders get a lot of ghey yucks, laughs, and jokes, but anyone with knowledge can actually tell you that those usually have some decent looking girlfriends. Need to get those girls out of the stands and on the track and have the cameras show them kissing after scores instead of the freshman.

Another aggie-ism.
Well, I would think a lot of excitement and investment would roll in for stadium upgrades, renovations, and additions with A&M moving to the SEC. Can you imagine the environment when y'all host LSU...Alabama...Auburn...Arkansas?
I suppose I would focus on upgrades and renovations to amenities like restrooms, concessions, boxes, etc; next would be a stand in the open end zone. With the excitement and SEC teams coming to Kyle I would expect no problems in filling a 90K+ capacity. The third phase should focus on aesthetic appeal; try to warm up the structure with some trees and bricks and lessen the brutalist concrete prison look.

Pulling wool = getting chicks or getting laid, depending on context.
Not all Aggies are hicks, but I probably am.

If that's true, then Maroon Out is also not a "real tradition." Come off it. Corps block is just fine how it is. If you don't like it, well, sucks for you.

Do you really expect a lot more visitors? I know I will make the trip at least the first time, but it is a seriously long way for most of the SEC.
USC typically gets 1,500 or so from Arkansas and vice versa. Our nearby east rivals send 9-12,000, but once you get beyond easy driving distance (6 hours or less), opponent ticket sales start dropping drastically.
Bama and Auburn travel well, but we're talking a 12 hour drive -- over 700 miles to College Station(versus just over 300 to Columbia, SC).

A&M needs to do something. Kyle Field is an awful looking stadium.

it isnt a tradition. deal with it.
its nothing but an organizational tool to make it easier for Corps leadership to watch them.
its bad for for relations between the Corps and greater student body and its bad for the overall image of the school as it gives a very narrow picture of our student body.
as for Maroon Out, yea that really isn't much of a tradition either.
the first one was for Nebraska in 98. Up until then most people wore white to the games. Everyone wearing maroon at a single designated game is what made the Maroon Out a special thing.
But now that people were maroon to EVERY single game, its pretty much just another Aggie shirt that people buy at the start of the year.

I don't think you understand how piss poor opponent attendance is in the big 12. Outside of t.u. and OU, no one travels well at all. For example, our "bitter, hated rival on the Brazos", the baylor cubbies only purchased ~850 tickets for this year's game. And they're only 90 miles away.
So yeah, there will definitely be an increase as far as visitor ticket sales.

that is horrible
by Baylor standards they are really good this year
you know what you guys should do? you should sue them

Well, assuming we're in the West, I expect Arkansas and LSU and 'Bama fans to travel really well. Not sure about Ole Miss and MSU and AU.
But, in the Big XII, only Nebraska, OU Tech and Texas fans really sold tickets Kyle Field, sometimes OSU, but Baylor, and the Kansas and Iowas Schools were in the low 100s. Really bad.

I always felt one of the mistaken assumptions about expansion was the TV thing. One of the reasons the SEC is successful is because of the in-game atmosphere -- which looks great on TV. A big part of that is the size of the visiting contingent, along with their band.
If you ignore the distance issue in setting up a conference, you lose that excitement. Hopefully A&M is still close enough to where it won't matter. I knew TCU to the Big East would never work -- no fans will travel that far.

there are more than enough arky, bama, auburn, and lsu fans in Texas to make the trip, not to mention the fans in other states that will travel further.
