A tale of two recruits, Burns and Jefferson: What their story shows us about Ed and Jimbo

Major Burns is a 4 star safety prospect from Baton Rouge. He committed to A&M in February of 2019. When his hometown school offered him, he jumped on the chance, decommitting from A&M and committing to LSU. He committed to LSU in June of 2019. In December of 2019, a week before signing day, Ed Orgeron told Major Burns that LSU was not going to send Major a LOI and was revoking their offer. Why was this happening to this hometown kid? Did he run afoul of the law? Had he failed to make some grades? Was he visiting other schools? No, it was nothing like that. Ed just thought he could get a better recruit in his spot, so he decided to kick Major to the curb.
Jordan Jefferson is a 3 star OL prospect from Navasota, TX. He was offered as a freshmen in high school by Memphis and A&M and LSU. He was huge and agile for a young kid, and plenty of people thought he was going to be a top prospect. Unfortunately for Jordan, he stopped growing, and he just never developed into a Power 5 prospect, and he stopped getting offers. Fortunately for Jordan, he had accepted Kevin Sumlin's offer of a scholarship. His grades were in order. He hadn't got into any trouble. Jimbo decided to honor the commitment that A&M made to Jordan.
These are facts. Spin them however you want. Obfuscate. Change the subject. Make it sound like taking a new job is the same thing as kicking a kid to the curb merely because a better prospect is sniffing around. Point to a recruit who lost an A&M offer because he failed a math class. Say whatever you want. But the above facts are uncontested.
Update:
Recruits are starting to wonder if they can trust Ed. Here is a a quote from Rakim Jarrett. "To be honest, I think it was a lack of trust between the coaching staff at LSU and myself," Jarrett added.

Jimbo has processed a number of players since he showed up on your campus. He processed two RBs in the last month. There is no spin. All coaches do it to some extent. The “field” is level now as a result of the transfer portal. I watched a stoic , collected QB breakdown Saturday night on national television when he thanked Coach O. Pretty sure that will go a lot further with recruits than Jimbo’s tweet about this guy.

False.

What tweet are you talking about? I'm pretty sure Jimbo doesn't do twitter.

Congrats on your shitty G5 prospect that will be dominated by SEC edge rushers for years to come

This is why A&M will never be considered elite

If the price of being elite is learning to turn your back on an 18 year old young man to whom you had made a promise, then I'm okay with that.

Congrats on the mediocrity.

it happens every day. the players understand this.
the fact that this hurts your feelings is odd

I'm not so sure about that. At least one top recruit spoke very harshly about what LSU did to Major. It's possible even that it contributed to the large number of late defections from the LSU class.
