My background is medical, not legal, and I've been wondering if the SEC has the authority of making it's own portal rules if they were inclined to do so. The idea of guys transferring all over multiple times is bad enough but a real player going from one SEC school straight to another SEC school on their schedule just seems a bridge too far. I guess I'm glad that Holloway is coming to Alabama but it still doesn't feel right. Before Ty Simpson decided to stay at Alabama, I could just see him transferring to Auburn or Tennessee along with our playbook.

I'm sure the genie is already out of the bottle and it would probably affect recruiting, but would it be technically possible for us to have our own rules?

Thanks.

The SEC could make their own rules.. but as soon as someone challenges it, it will all go to shite..

I’m not a lawyer.. just my uneducated opinion.

The SEC and B1G will make their own rules soon enough when they leave the NCAA. And yes, the transfer portal is all kinds of stupid

The problem is teams that tamper and outright buy them off your team

Revenue sharing is what it will take instead of collectives designed to be the highest bidder
Collectives is not what nil was supposed to be
It’s marketing yourself and doing it the way some of the women are doing it like Caitlin Clark, Dunne etc

Agreed. Tampering is rampant, and the NCAA can do nothing about it

The SEC already has with its spring portal transfer rule, in that a player cannot transfer from one SEC school to another, but based on the courts' rulings in other cases, that is likely to be struck down if challenged IMO.

If challenged it will never stand up in court

Good players leaving for playing time and such isn’t a huge issue with me, but leaving because the other team bought them doesn’t set well with me.
