Who do yall think starts this Sunday in Oxford ? I'm expecting Pineda or Long but I just don't know that much about your pitching staff... Your coach has done a great job preparing this team for conference play... Which wasnt easy with the departures of Stripling, Naquan and Wacha... You gave Fullerton all they wanted and could've taken 2 of 3 had you caught a few more breaks... Good luck this weekend and I hope we stomp your asses.

Our MO against good teams on the road is as follows:

Lose a close one on Friday
Win a close one on Saturday (usually involves a weird, once a year type play or event)
Lose in a blowout on Sunday

It's remarkably consistent. We like to turn triple plays, throw no hitters and have one-hit shutouts on Saturday for whatever reason.

I'll be tuning in for this one. Should be a good week two for OM. Although, I hope A&M pulls one out for the sake of their program

aTm can pitch... The bullpen is shaky but their weekend starters are really good... I expect us to test their catcher early and often... As well as their arms in the outfield.

I would assume Jason Freeman gets the Sunday start again. He did well against UGA last weekend and only walked one. Childress demands his pitchers throw strikes. The other possibilities would be Ray or Long. Both have done well in midweek games and out of the pen.

As for the rest of our staff Martin is a middle of the road SEC Friday starter. He closed last year and is a solid arm with decent control. He didn't get much support early on and we dropped a few Friday games. Mengden is our most talented starter. His only loss this year was a quality start, 6 innings, 1 earned run, 6 Ks, in a 0-2 loss to Fullerton. Our best pitcher thus far has been Jester. He's yet to give up a run on the year, opponents are betting .119 against him with only one extra base hit, 2-0, and 6/6 on save opportunities. While somewhat small in stature he brings the heat and doesn't throw a bunch of balls.

Our biggest issue is not pitching. Rob is a hell of a pitching coach and its always a strength no matter how many All Americans we lose.

The offense is what is holding us back. We lack power and clutch hitting. I will say things are starting to come along a little with Bratson (speedster), Reynolds (filling Naquins spot leading off), and Lanford (clean up hitter). Our philosophy is small ball (tied with Vandy is SH), speed(2nd to Vandy in SB), and putting pressure on the defense to make plays.

I don't think anyone really knows for sure. Freeman actually started the Sun game vs UGA. He only went 4.2 but he's been in the pen. For the most part he pitched okay though so I think if I were betting he'd be my pick.

I'm not sure where Pineda is as we gave Long the midweek and Pineda didn't even come in. I'd guess he'll be long relief this weekend. But if RC thinks Pineda has got it together in bullpen sessions, I can also see him getting the Sun start.

I wouldn't be surprised at all by that result. We are going to struggle to score runs. But if either Martin or Mengden are on, they are good enough to win those games. Especially if they can bridge to Jester. I think most Ags are just looking for 1 game each of the next two weekends. I'd be just fine going 2-4 on the road these next two series. 3-3 would be gravy.

We play pitching. I'm not sure our style qualifies as fullblown baseball.

You guys played great defense last weekend and are in the upper half in the conference with a ~.980 fielding %... If you pitch and are solid in the field you can win lots of games in this new era of college baseball.

The problem is that we are practically incapable of generating more than three runs against quality competition. We can't hit for power at all and have to rely on speed on infield trickery/mistakes to manufacture runs, which means we generally are incapable of big innings.
