The NCAA should have had the right to enforce its amateurism rule.
Using anti-trust law to knee-cap the NCAA (a government recommended institution) was unnecessary to me.
The athletes could have gone and played somewhere where they could be paid. No one was coercing them to play for NCAA schools. The NAIA and independent leagues do exist. The system wasn't perfect, but it sure as hell was better than it is now.

Your proposal restricts capitalism. Why don’t we just remove all anti-trust laws then? Why do you get to pick and choose which one you like?

The issue is the transfer portal where you can transfer without any penalty at all.
If you fix the transfer portal, you fix college football. Simple as that.
Why can the coaches leave but the players can't?
Since college athletics is a business, it should be taxed as such and not get to hide behind the mirage of being "public".

To be fair…..the coach has to buy out of the contract.

1.NIL is not a salary.
2. NIL is endorsements.
Money provided by collectives is closer to #1 fhan it is to #2.
The actual endorsement money these guys are getting is peanuts compared to the money they get from the collectives... which are not associated with any product or service.
I don't know how it works everywhere else...but at Oklahoma there is a token "community service" clause in their contracts with the collective.

people still don’t know what NIL is
Yes we do. It’s legalized bribery. It took less than a year to go from jersey sales to full on pay-for-play. The only difference is you have to put them on a billboard and pretend people care about the ad.

The other fix is extending eligibility to 7 years, this increases the supply of players significantly and inevitably drives down prices.

This is my exact focus.
We are more than likely headed towards salary caps for schools and collectives.
That is fine. Once this happens the money will shift towards endorsements which is a big grey area.
Basically any company can pay an athlete for their endorsement and the NCAA can’t do anything about it.
