Or how many family members like an opposite SEC team than yourself... (looking at you Alabama/Auburn)

My husband is a Bama fan like me.

But his family is divided down the middle... 2 brothers are big Bama fans and another brother and the sister are big Barners.

In fact the Barner brother calls my husband a few times a week wanting to talk and gush about Cam. Husband tries his best not to throw up cause he hates Cam.

How do you handle it?

I try to ignore them when they start talking Barnerism.

Does it lead to tense situations?
Most definitely.

Ever resulted in a fight?
Yes. Have been times when the family completely quits talking to each other for a few months. The longest when the family wasn't talking was about a two years.

Thank goodness my whole family are Bama fans, even generations back.

I bet y'all are a bunch of rednecks. Who ACTUALLY gets into a fight with family over a football game? Get the frick over it. Family>>>>>football. I can't believe people would go months without speaking to each other because of the outcome of a game the had zero control over.

No, most of us are college graduates. We are just passionate about our football teams. And Husband's family are mostly gingers with highly-tempered Scottish ancestors. So the fighting in his family happens a lot, about other things too.

My fiancee went to Indiana University, so no issues between us. Actually she's becoming a bit of a Bama football fan. Really how could she not? What's she going to root for Indiana?

Parents went to Pitt, Sister and cousin went to N.C. State. Best friends from when I was a kid went to Penn State & Michigan State; outside of the recent beat-downs, no issues there. Other relatives and friends went to D-2 or 3 schools. No issues there.

My Dad is from Ohio and most of my relatives on his side either went to Ohio State or pull for Ohio State. Those people are a bunch of dicks when it comes to sports. Go figure.

I'm a Bama fan and have been since I was born but graduated from MS State. Wife is Ole Miss grad.

My 5yr son is a Bama fan. My 7yr daughter is a Black Bear fan. (She said last year that she and her mom needed to find a new team , she also said that she liked the "Old Guy" more than the bear)

My parents are both Bama fans.

My brother and his wife are MSU fans, however they don't really watch football.

My grandparents and one Aunt and Uncle are big Auburn fans and two other Aunts and Uncles are Bama fans. It was always a lot of fun with all of us watching the game on Thanksgiving

Yeah, I had that issue last year. My father-in-law's whole side of the family are Bama fans, and wanted to do Thanksgiving at their spread in West Alabama. They don't drink, they don't cuss, and they pull for the wrong team. I sent my wife and daughter, and I watched the Iron Bowl at my house.

in undergrad, dated a girl from Mississippi. Her parents went to LSU. We were roadtripping to Arky for the USC game that season and met with her parents to eat dinner. Upon meeting the parents they gave me an LSU hat and shirt. I knew they hated guys who wore their hat backwards so naturally I wore it backwards. Cheap arse hat anyway

Dad = Auburn
Uncle = Bama

Every thanksgiving when they get together they have a bottle of MD 20/20 that one gets to keep for the year if his team wins. Been going on for like 15 years now with the same bottle

The stories I could tell about my parents. I think that's why I chose to go a different route completely.

I am a huge Alabama fan and my husband is an Auburn fan. We got married before we ever went through a football season together or we probably wouldn't have gotten married! It is awful (especially this season). We decided that we can't discuss it AT ALL or we get into a huge fight. We can't watch the Iron Bowl together but we'll usually watch all of the other games together.

I won't go with him to Auburn at all because I hate them and that place so much that I can't have fun. But, he has gone with me to several Bama games (including the SEC Championship). He is a much better sport than I am. He let me name our son Tyde :)
