re: A glimpse into the 2024 SEC

Texas will have to come into the SEC and win some games. As a fan I’m comfortable that will happen. First, the SEC is top heavy. Texas would be favored on a neural field TODAY against all but 2, maybe 3, teams. Texas is a different team than it’s been over the last 15 years. We’ll be favored to win the Big XII in ‘23.

7 of our coaches came directly from the SEC, so they know what an SEC team looks like and they know where we need to be to compete in the SEC. Our most recent hire was coaching in the NFL last year.

Texas will have 3 first round draft picks in the next draft. The only position where we’ll have a drop off when they leave will be tight end. Our left tackle will be the first offensive lineman off the board in 2024. We have big, athletic guys up and down the offensive line. We have an embarrassment of riches at running back.

As far as “wanting to control the conference” I’m not even sure what that means. In the Big XII all we ever wanted was for the refs to call a fair game. Y’all all saw that bullshite missed safety call against Alabama last year with your own eyes. In the Oklahoma state game there were 14 penalties called against Texas. Zero against Oklahoma state. The whole controlling the conference narrative is just aggies trying to work through the 7 stages of grief because they know that Texas has every advantage in recruiting now. 8&4 is back at the children’s table (where they belong) and it pisses them off.

I’m feeling pretty good about the Alabama game this year, if only due to new coordinators in both sides of the ball. Alabama is talented and will work the kinks out as the season goes on, but our game is in September.

Conferences have contracts and obligations. It's scary how stupid you must be to not realize why we had to wait. As it is we are paying a penalty to leave early.

Aggy was a bottom dweller in the big12 and almost won the SEC year 1, Missouri was a bottom dweller in the big12 and was winning the SEC East. Texas is LOADED, you'll see first hand in a few months.
