Not sure how an SEC football fan has watched SEC football this year and not say -- " I Want More". Bring me 24 team playoff, 9 game seasons and lets roll.
Will be great having playoff games in Early to Mid Dec when not much is happening.
Basketball slows down and it will be fun.

Yup. I knew UGA fans would be the first to complain about a 9-game conference schedule. Here we are.
UF should complain too. Like UGA, one of your 12 games is at a neutral site, losing a home game opportunity every other year. You also have an annual ACC rivalry where you lose a home game every other year. And at 8 games, we'd try to also schedule an Oregon/Clemson/Notre Dame. Those are the games we are going to lose so we can get another game with Mississippi State.

I think a 9 game sec schedule with 10 sec teams would be badass. Everyone plays everyone every year.

These bitches will complain about any and everything. First they complain that the schedule is harder making it more difficult to get in the playoff. Then they complain about expanding the playoff.
They don't care if they make any sense or not. They think people are out to get them.

quote:This is disingenuous. You should compare the 9th conference game to the lowest-revenue earning non-con game. That is the legitimate trade-off. Canceling a high-revenue earning game is the part that the AD is choosing.
we'd try to also schedule an Oregon/Clemson/Notre Dame.
There are 3 other non-con games we also schedule. Given one is GT, there are two slots we’re totally free to select an opponent beyond the game you cite (i.e. the Oregon/Clemson/Notre Dame premier FBS non-con opponent slot). In those slots, UGA like everybody else schedules cupcakes.
A 9th SEC game is better for fans, and better for revenue, than a non-con cupcake game

Sure.
But teams are canceling Clemson, FSU, and Louisville.
And why?
Because the goal isn't to win a game in September.
The goal is to win games in January.
When the regular season doesn't matter and the biggest goal for the head coach and athletic department is good health in January, why would any team schedule 2 P4 OOC games?

Texas used to schedule 2 P4 OOC opponents back when they were in the shitty BigXII.
They aren't doing it anymore in the SEC.
But I would rather my AD control the quality of that extra game than to put it into a round robin with 15 other teams.
Especially since everyone's third favorite hobby is bitching about conference scheduling inequalities.

I don't think you know what disingenuous means. Nothing in my post is disingenuous.

That happened 6 times in the 27 years Texas was in the Big 12.

you can do 8 conference games and 2 P4 OOC games like Alabama and a few others were trying to make happen without a mathematical penalty on the conference.
This is my preferred outcome
It avoids the uneven number of home vs road SEC games and allows more interesting out of conference big name games.
The idea of the SEC and Big 10 doing two game series based on the prior couple of years conference standings is very cool. With two ooc games mandated you can do that at the start of the year and keep your other rivalry games against Clemson, FSU, Ga Tech or what have you

Georgia has done it 14 times in the past 27 years (26 since we have been canceling the 2nd P4 since the 9th conference game started).
We even scheduled 3 OOC P4 opponents in the past.
The athletic department has an identity to keep our traditions alive.
And to schedule opponents that our fans want to see.
We get zero say in conference scheduling and it kind of pisses me off that the trade-off is so poor for this extra game.
Texas coming from the BIG XII, of course you get excited seeing Arkansas more often.

I mean, surely you already knew what I wrote in response, my post was for passersby.
To be clear, the above is a polite way of not asking the alternative, which is if you’re just stupid

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you.
