Here are the biggest bracket surprises heading into the holidays:

Arkansas Razorbacks
The Razorbacks are part of a pleasant SEC resurgence and a near-lock for the NCAA tournament. While not a complete surprise, Arkansas was "First Four Out" to start the season and needed nonleague wins over Oklahoma and Minnesota to affirm its postseason path. The data doesn't see the Razorbacks hanging onto their current No. 5 seed, but it also failed to predict seven NCAA teams from their conference. Projection: A top four SEC finish and No. 6 or No. 7 NCAA seed.

Tennessee Volunteers
Speaking of SEC surprises, how about the Vols? Tennessee was barely ahead of Arizona State on the preseason seed list (No. 98), but it is cruising toward its first NCAA bid since the 2013-14 season. The recent near-miss against North Carolina should be interpreted positively, along with the obvious value of an overtime win over Purdue. The Vols aren't going anywhere except the NCAA tournament.
Projection: An 8-9 game and probable first-round NCAA victory.

I'm super-impressed by both teams. No one thought either would do this well and Tennessee was written off to 13th in the SEC (they have to be one of the biggest surprises of the year even nationally).

Rick Barnes can flat out coach and I think this season will give him the bona fides at Tennessee to start bringing in elite talent. Look out world if that happens.

Not sure why Arkansas is so worried, they’ll exit first round as per usual this millineum.

Arkansas returned one of the best guard combos in the nation this year, so there was expectations there for Arkansas and they're expected to make another NCAAt trip, pre season.

I would agree with Tennessee though. Most thought they were still a year away. Going to be interesting to see how the Vols do as the SEC season starts to wear on the lack of depth.

F that noise, I would have called for Anderson's head if this team didn't get at least a 5 seed. Even then I think that's underperforming.

There's no reason we shouldn't be at least a 3/4 seed at this point in Anderson's career. That would tend to be a top 3 finish in the league.

That's what I said a few weeks before the season. Now that I've seen Gafford play my expections have probably gotten a little higher for this team. I know I'm a homer but for the life of me I cannot understand how this team could have been so underrated.

Auburn could end up 26-6 and Lutardo and Palm would have us no better than a 4. They've always loathed Auburn even when they surprise. He has Clemson an 8 for beating a gimpy Florida during their slump, but Temple as an 11 in a play-in game.

Basically because of the loss of Kingsley down low and not knowing how Gafford would perform his freshman season. The loss of Hannahs is off set by having Barford and Macon back.

I've sung Barford's praises for a while and knew he was an elite talent. He should get more national attention for how skillful a player he is. He's a next level type player.

Bracketology in Dec. ?

I know our football coaching hire was sub par, but really?

Wanna know why we’re not in the Top 25?

Holla at Houston.

Can we at least pump the brakes until SEC play starts?

Screw that
I've pumped the brakes too long on this program. Time for results becoming of an elite program.

Beard's return to form has be a pleasant addition as well. Not to mention CJ Jones is slowly turning into Ray Allen.

I told my buddies watching the game against Oral Roberts that he's like Lebron in a guard's body. Their body-types/playstyles are extremely similar.

UNC or Duke could be 10 seed at large bids, and they'd still be put in a North Carolina site.

I don't think so. I don't think LSU will finish last in the SEC, but I'd be happy with a 6-12 SEC record in the first season of Wade.

The committee will, somehow, someway, have Arkansas playing against NC in Charlotte. If they could find a way to swing it they'd have Kentucky playing Duke there as well.
