I didn't avoid anything. You asked what my point was, and the answer is that I didn't have one--I was simply responding to bigDgator's question about what was significant about 1973.

Yep. We we're so scared of those 0.500 world beaters that we moved to the SEC West where 3 teams had NCs within the last 5 years.

A&M talks a lot of shite for only having one 10 win season since 2000.

While the ".500 world beaters" have had 10 since then.

No problem. A&m was the absolute best of recent SEC additions. Both Texas Universities are outstanding schools & the SEC should be beyond thrilled to have both.

But you see how quickly history & tradition is dismissed when it comes to on field / court results? History only means everything to many when it's some minstrel spirit song from the class of 1894, Mascots , etc....

It’s no different than Florida fans bragging about their record against Georgia “since 1990”

Nearly 60 years in the SEC before Florida's 1st conference title in 1990/91(?). History, tradition is completely dismissed by many. The past/history/ tradition doesn't matter when it's convenient.

Only history since 1990 matters.

I mean…I hate to defend Aggie …but the TU/Aggie series is tied since 1974.

Ok, from 1974? Take out the FedEx cheating years from 1985-1995 and it moves to 17-10.
That's the problem with randomly cherry picking dates...

Damn no wonder they are bitching constantly about Texas.

Good for you. Your team is going to play them now. Oh, sure, I forgot, your team will always beat them.

But in fairness, they dominated the series in the leather helmet days. That's supposed to make them a "Blue Blood"...or put another way, an entitled trust fund baby that derives self-worth and condescends due to events that happened well-before their lifetime and have no bearing on the present day.
Uh... We're 9-3 since the turn of the century. That all happened during my lifetime

So the the Great A&M Aggies were'nt allowed to give unlimited scholarships? Texas Longhorns were the only school in the NCAA / Texas allowed to do this?
They constantly dodge this question. They were allotted unlimited scholarships as well, but when you point that out, that's when the military school excuses come out.

...ok? And that has what to do with this thread about Texas vs. A&M and Arkansas?

No question TCU has gotten the better of us. One of the main reasons each of our prior head coaches are no longer with the program. Not to mention some of the TCU teams were pretty damn good and definitely would've beaten A&M and Arkansas as well.

Teams with more prestige back then like Norte Dame, Michigan, OSU, Texas, and especially Bear Bryant at Bama.. took advantage and would give players scholarships (and other incentives) just to keep them from going to their rivals.

You’re the one that wanted to dwell on the “turn of the century”…I think it’s important to include all of your “turn of the century” history. Btw..you’re not going to be significant in the SEC for awhile..just saying.

TCU has 12 ten win seasons since 2000.
TCU has 3 ten win seasons since 2012 in the Big 12.

TCU has had a pretty good team for a while now.

TCU in the Big 12 > A&M in the Big 12

Hmmm... if only there was something teams did back then to earn prestige. Couldn't have been winning, could it? Maybe if A&M was just a better football team, they would also be able to exploit the endless scholarships? Maybe they should look in the mirror before crying abuse?

Just a thought.

What happened in 1973? Watergate? End of Vietnam War? Just curious why this date was chosen as the starting point normally right at the beginning of a winning streak for the team they are trying to make look better?

Years that make sense:

'73 first year any scholarship restrictions went into effect at 105
'78 scholarship limit reduced to 95
'92 scholarship limit reduced to 89
'80 half of America today was born after 1980

Doesn't really matter what you pick in that era, truth is since then it is roughly .500 between the schools.

It's more to point out the hypocrisy due to the fact that A&M would likely have the exact same record against TCU in the exact same timeframe. But they need to hide behind their more superior opponents instead of bolster their own accomplishments (because they have so few)

So the 2 premier schools in Texas would be 4-14 against TCU..and the rest of us in the SEC are supposed to be scared?

Thank god we didn’t invite TCU
