Face it, you guys were not very balanced in the game...enough to win from cheap turnovers from a freshman QB, You were lucky colt went out. Were you not? Can you at least admit that?
Yeah... we were lucky Colt wasn't playing Linebacker or noseguard... maybe he would have stopped Ingram and Richardson from running for 100+ a piece and 4 TDs.

BTW: did anyone notice that the BCS coverage kept saying Bama held 7 titles not 12?
7 (8 now), 12 (13 now), it doesn't matter. That is still over twice as much as your team has.

Tops in the nation and tops in the SEC.

our running game was second to NONE for a national title game... and our passing game was poor for two reasons... the Texas secondary WAS legit for sure, and our QB had BROKEN RIBS man... if you want to ignore that fact, that's fine. just don't start threads on a message board and pretend that you want a real and intelligent discussion.
Your guy could not pass because he was getting sacked and hit...the UT D front was pretty good..
When did he get hit in the ribs? I missed that...zero TV coverage of that...He never missed a snap...could not have been that bad
Your tailbacks are very good...yes...
AS usual the Bama wins come down to about 3 plays...not as dominate as you guys want to believe

His ribs were broken in the seccg and there was no media coverage of it because saban didn't want anyone knowing. Try and keep up.

Why put an asterisk next to it? Are championships only handed out to individuals rather than the team? Had Texas won would only Colt McCoy have gotten a ring? No, it's a team sport.

I agree. People keep talking about "Bama won because Colt went out". Does that mean that if Dont'a Hightower hadn't gone down earlier in the year that Texas wouldn't have even been in the game at all?
Furthermore, you can't name a single player on our team who, if he had gone down, would have caused us to lose the game. Why? Because we are a more complete team than Texas - and that's precisely why we won. We have play makers at every single position, and capable backups at every single position.

it seems like no one realizes that there was no balance because we didnt NEED it. they had no offense, we just needed to knock off the clock.
if colt had stayed in and kept it close, i'm sure the offensive game plan would have been completely different

I'm starting to believe that the whole McCoy/Shipley phenomenon had more to do with Shipley than it did McCoy.
Think about it. Shipley just has a knack for getting open. He makes it easy for the QB, whomever that QB may be. He's the go to guy, and about the only receiver they had who could hang on to the ball.
McCoy or freshman QB? Makes no difference. The outcome would be the same. Either one will be locked onto Shipley as their go-to guy.
So if you think of it in those terms, it really matters not that McCoy was out of the game. Aside from his scrambling abilities, passing to Shipley was about all you could expect from him.
Alabama covered Shipley pretty good I guess, except on a few occasions, and that's when Texas scored their points.
Hell, it's not like McCoy went into the game being unfamiliar with what it's like to be sacked or intercepted. If he played the entire length of the game HE would have produced the same results as his replacement-- a few long yardage completions to Shipley and several fumble/interceptions/sacks.
This is why Alabama would have won the game regardless of who played as Texas' QB. They win or lose with Shipley. And while you can't cover Shipley ALL the time, Alabama did a fair job of covering him ENOUGH of the time.

Also, Bama shouldn't be insulted because of Texas' inability to compete without one of their only play makers. Texas simply had to sleep in the bed that they had made for themselves. THEY chose to revolve the entire offense around McCoy and not have a running game. THEY chose to design plays that only McCoy knew how and was capable of running. THEY decided that their entire offense would be based around these plays and THEY decided to not allow their backup to learn how to execute those plays effectively.
Don't blame Bama because of Texas' stupidity and weakness.

Texas is neither stupid or weak. They were simply one dimensional. And we knocked them out of their normal rhythm... they showed amazing character and ability when they nearly came back and WON THE GAME.
but seriously though, this thread pwned the OP's flame.

Oh, so the month off, he wasn't healed up?
Hey I am just giving you guys a hard time, because I can't really stand Bama fans that I have met in person, and in general, and it's annoying to have many flamers on our board 24/7.. LSU fans can't do the same on your boards from what I have heard..No way!
I have met a few Bama fans up here in NC, and frankly...they are too arrogant, cocky, and in your face about Alabama football...heck that (experience) started 3 years ago when you hired Nick Saban.. "Were going to do this and that"..I am serious, I met a couple guys at a party 3 years ago, and I left "my God, those guys are sick" (maybe it was the booze! :)
Now that Nick has proven these clowns correct, with a championship, the level of arrogance and pride is now of biblical proportions.
Bama has now been blessed with 2 legendary coaches in a span of 40 years , heck Stalling was pretty good too..
You have been fortunate!
As a fan from a rival school, it hurts to see Bama have the best coach in CFB a second time in my lifetime.. I think that highly of Nick.
I am just flat honest about that...but I guess Bama fans already know this, and enjoy sticking it too us

You can believe what you want..
You talk about UT being one dimensional, and my point was you were one dimensional. 3 turn overs inside the 20 equals an easy win.
If UT played Bama 10 times with Colt...How many games do you think UT wins?
And, If you guys don't think UT has player after player sitting on the bench, then you haven't stepped outside your bubble in T-town..

our offense has been labeled as "balanced" all year... but even though we really are only STRONG at running and ADEQUATE at passing, i definitely think we'd win the majority of those 10 games without question.
Posted on 1/10/10 at 6:04 pm to m2pro
fair enough...
I think UT wins half those games...maybe 6
Bama was more balanced in the season, but UT's D took that away

I knew Texas fans and their sympathizers would pull this B.S. as soon as I saw McCoy go down. This is the same trash Oklahoma fans were talking about the previous season when they think they gave Florida a good game with their backup RB's in that game. Face it, the better team from the better conference won the national championship...again!

If you cared that much for Coach Saban, you would be happy that he accomplished something no other college football coach has. He is the only coach to have won a NC at two separate schools. (the ones before the AP doesn't count per ESPN and rival fans)
He also will have a statue.

this should help with the burning.
Suck it up princess and get used to it. Saban WILL win another while at the most successful university in college football history.
