re: Where should fan allegiances be

You shouldn't have allegiance to any of it.
The sad truth is that all too many of you are a bunch of faggy fan-boys.

Newton = Serena Williams

Faking injuries so as not to be upstaged. Yep, that's what Cam was doing after McElroy went down.
Oh how dramatic and theatrical it is to see Cam writhing on the ground in pain one minute, only to see him leap up, make a big play on the next series, then go scampering back to the line of scrimmage, grinning like a 'possum, only to repeat the performance all the way to the end-zone. (wow! what a competitor!)
That there is vintage Serena Williams, tennis player extraordinaire and toast of Paris!
Both have a penchant for blowing kisses to their dimwitted adoring fans.
Both have shake-down artist daddies.
Both have beady eyes and bubble butts....
Cam should make the transformation complete by growing out his hair, stringing it with some multi-colored beads, then show up at the SECCG in some vinyl wonder-woman hip boots and an "I Luv Me" T-shirt. lol!
But I do credit Cam for not threatening the officials with physical violence (yet) for ruling against him the way Serena has in the past.

leadership on teams
Posted by Americas Team on 11/27/10 at 8:21 am
What do "they" mean by the phrase - "this team lacks leadership" or "someone needs to step up to the plate on defense and show some leadership"?
I can see how the quarterback is an obvious leadership role: plays are called and changed from this position, and the accompanying cast on offense must respond in unison for the play to be completed successfully.
The defense is a different matter it would seem. Each defensive player is reacting to the offensive alignments, right? In other words, if the defensive players knew their assignments and responsibilities, how to line-up in reaction to pre-snap formation the offense is showing, then why the need for a "leader" on defense (like Rolando McClain with Alabama last year).
Why can't each player on defense be "an army of one"? Why should they need a Rolando McClain to flap his arms around and point them to where they should be lined up or who they should be covering?
I can see the rookies needing some assistance early in the year, but as the season progresses there shouldn't be as big a need for a leader on defense.
I've never played organized football, so I'll admit that I could be well off base with the above observations.
(PS - Or by the term leader do they mean someone that gets the guys pumped up and focused, sort of like Tebow with his sideline speechifying and gesticulations?)

Nope. Saban and Alabama combined = Masterblaster.
The only thing that can stop em is a high pitched whistle.

I'm starting to believe that the whole McCoy/Shipley phenomenon had more to do with Shipley than it did McCoy.
Think about it. Shipley just has a knack for getting open. He makes it easy for the QB, whomever that QB may be. He's the go to guy, and about the only receiver they had who could hang on to the ball.
McCoy or freshman QB? Makes no difference. The outcome would be the same. Either one will be locked onto Shipley as their go-to guy.
So if you think of it in those terms, it really matters not that McCoy was out of the game. Aside from his scrambling abilities, passing to Shipley was about all you could expect from him.
Alabama covered Shipley pretty good I guess, except on a few occasions, and that's when Texas scored their points.
Hell, it's not like McCoy went into the game being unfamiliar with what it's like to be sacked or intercepted. If he played the entire length of the game HE would have produced the same results as his replacement-- a few long yardage completions to Shipley and several fumble/interceptions/sacks.
This is why Alabama would have won the game regardless of who played as Texas' QB. They win or lose with Shipley. And while you can't cover Shipley ALL the time, Alabama did a fair job of covering him ENOUGH of the time.

Bama v. Penn State, second game
Oh hell. That doesn't bode well for Joe Pa.
Saban/bama contribute to the sacking of Tommy Bowden, Tommy Tuberville, Phil Fulmer. They make Tebow cry. They knock Colt McCoy out of his final college game. They cause Urban Meyer to have an anxiety attack, making him consider stepping down from his head coaching position.
And now poor old fragile Joe Paterno is coming to town......

The statue
Posted by Americas Team on 1/10/10 at 12:42 pm
Doesn't Bear Bryant's statue depict him as he looked as an old fart? not when he'd actually won his first national championship?
Well what happens if Saban stays for 20-30 years, wins boo-coo national championships and everybody remembers him at the height of his glory as this little, shriveled up old man on the sidelines? -with arms crossed, scowling at everyone.
Then people will look at the statue of him as he looks now after his first NC and say, "who the frick is that? That doesn't look like the Saban we know and love."

re: I wonder if Saban really "gets it"...
Posted by Americas Team on 1/10/10 at 12:32 pm
Well, I'm an Alabama fan, but it's not like I worship Saban or anything. He's a damn good coach who takes his job seriously, and I like it.
But really, I'm not going to go ga-ga over some other dude (like some giddy teenage girl would do), thinking he's somehow larger than life. To hell with that!
But yeah, I'm sure Saban gets the fact that there are plenty of sad, pathetic creatures out there who would gladly eat the corn out of his shite if given an opportunity.

re: So Greg McElroy has been hiding broken ribs.....
Posted by Americas Team on 1/9/10 at 12:28 pm
Saban said he's had the rib problem for a while. He played with it during the SEC Championship game and did OK.
Bad ribs wasn't the reason he stunk it up in the NCG. His receivers either weren't getting sufficiently open, or he was too afraid of being intercepted to stick the ball in there.

LSU is in a malaise. It's like the malaise days of Jimmy Carter.
re: How to beat saban

Applewhite may have been in a good position to know what Alabama's offensive tendencies were back when he was he author of those tendencies, but now that Alabama uses a different offensive guy to draw up their schemes, how exactly is Applewhite suppose to have some sort of special insight into what Alabama is going to do anymore than any other casual observer?
re: Bama fans have a right to be arrogant

But the fans themselves didn't do squat, so why should they act arrogant?
re: Most Obsessed Fanbase
Posted by Americas Team on 12/12/09 at 9:03 pm
When I think of the LSU fan base (negatigers in particular) I'm reminded of that scene in the 80s movie, Trading Places, where Dan Aykroyd is standing outside of a restaurant in the pouring rain, watching as his usurper is inside enjoying a fine meal.
Why are ranters so insecure?
Posted by Americas Team on 12/10/09 at 7:45 pm
They're always doubting everything about LSU it seems. The coach, the players, the fans, etc.. everyone is suspected of being sub-par in the minds of the nega-tards.
It reminds me of the cavemen on the Geico commercial -- afraid of being exposed as a lesser entity in the eyes of the rest of the humanity.
I say be proud of your team, and know that as long as Miles makes sure the guys give it the ol' college try, regardless of the outcome of a game, they'll always be considered champions in the eyes of Tiger Nation.
