The whole 39 scholarships thing is so misleading. you played this year with 85 full rides.. you were allowed to use the transfer portal and recruit to get to 85. Which you did before the season. You signed the number 12 class with 6- 4 stars and 1-5 star. Plus brought in 16 transfers , 6 that were 4 stars.
Let’s no act like your team this year was using regular students like the East Texas State Armadillos.

Yeah, no one listened to that bullshite except their own fan base. It was one of many coping mechanisms for their insecurity.

They worked their way back. Commendable. The last 2 games were gimmes for Alabama.

LSU had 71 total initial qualifiers, that is a full 14 from Bama. They added Josh Williams to the updated list (a 2 star) who was not offered by LSU and did not sign, he was a preferred walk-on who got a scholarships. He was not listed on this list back in August.
LSU is not anywhere close to 85 and might not be there for next year either. Depends on how many guys don't declare early or hit the portal. I think LSU would like to bring in 25-27 HS and some portal guys to get back to 85. I think LSU had 17 guys went through Senior day and I expect some Juniors such as Boutte and Ojulari to go pro, so that is 19 from 72 leaving 53. So lets just say LSU signs a full 25 from HS this year, that is 78 and adds 7 portal guys, that gets LSU to 85 before accounting for any possible LSU guys going into the Portal before the 2023 season.
So I think LSU could be expected to be at least at 80 as a floor and maybe back to a full 85 for next year, but that is not 100% certain.

Let me spell it out for you, it was 71 to start the year. 247 was not counting Josh Williams as part of the roster they were rating. They added him to their roster rankings just recently. Williams was not an Initial qualifier in that he signed with LSU out of HS or with another school.
I am not going to use the way back machine to prove it to you since people with post like yours are not worth doing that.
But 71, now 72 on 247 is sure in the hell not 85 now is it.
