Also, didn’t Arkansas have just 47,000 for the season opener?
64,000 was the official attendance number. Around the same as Vaught Hemingway’s seating capacity.

A neutral site 300 miles from campus on a Monday night for a non conference game against a mediocre opponent in a shitty sports town during a pandemic?
The only legitimate excuse here is Monday night and maybe pandemic. But yeah, let's act like Ole Miss fanbase is following every CDC guidance
And even then, it's Labor Day.
ETA:
This was Tennessee vs. Mediocre ACC team GT on a Monday Night, 213 miles away from Knoxville

Tennessee has a huge Atlanta alumni base, though, and they were playing a local team (albeit one that doesn't have huge support).
But yea, last night was pretty shocking how empty it was. There was basically nobody in the endzones or any of the upper deck.

Check the pic again. Looks like at worst 50/50 Tennessee fans
50% of Mercedes-Benz Stadium is 37,500 fans.
I'm not saying UT shouldn't out travel Ole Miss to Atlanta, but the difference shouldn't be that stark I'd argue

I was there - it was something like 50% Tennessee fans, 25% Tech fans, 25% random people just there to watch a football game.

Definitely - I mean it really was pretty shocking how empty that place was. I get it, but still.

Neutral site games have lost the pop off their fastball. Back in the 50s and 60s there were quite a few neutral site games... and then that fell by the wayside. College football brings it back in a big way and it does huge business... for a while.
Time to put it back in the toy chest.

Louisville brought two fans and a dog.

I agree. I'd have much rather had that game on campus.

It’s a 4.5 hour drive from Oxford to Atlanta so the fact they couldn’t get more fans there is well very OM like
to be fair, the vast majority of their fans don't live in Oxford either

Ole Miss has a pretty decent alumni base in Atlanta as does most of the SEC. Atlanta is, however, under 2 hours from the Tennessee state line
