So you're hearing no leaks from your side on what is in it?

quote:It sounds like you've come to some conclusions prematurely, to me. What makes you say that the penalty was determined from the start? We don't even know what the full extent of NCAA action will be.
NCAA investigators offering immunity and staying on campus over 5 years to justify pre-determined penalty is pretty ridiculous.
No doubt we cheated just like everybody else does and got caught. So I am sure we deserve some punishment. Our 2017 class was penalty already.
And yes, every school has its bag men. Some just cheat far more than others (Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, etc.).
But as they say...it's an ongoing investigation.

I hope we're f'd and this turns into a house of cards/Wild West type situation. To hell with us all, I say.

This just sucks all around and the level of schadenfreude on the rant is just putrid.

NCAAs only teeth comes from granting immunity. Otherwise, they'd have no enforcement power because nobody would be willing to speak openly

The real issue here is how this effects the "repeat-violator" rule.
Do self-imposed penalties count as "penalties assessed"?
That, of course, will only matter if there is a major violation in this NOA.
For those that don't know the colloquial term for the "repeat-violator legislation" is "death penalty"
quote:
Following the announcement of a major case, a major violation occurs
AND
The second violation occurred within five years of the starting date of the penalty assessed in the first case. The second major case does not have to be in the same sport as the previous case to affect the second sport.

Are you using etc to mean pretty much every other team or is that just your way of getting out of having to name pretty much every other team? Because if folks truly think that the same stuff isn't going on everywhere, then they are dipshits. Ole miss was dumb enough to get caught and now where being used as a scapegoat for the NCAA to "show that they don't put up with that". Again, bring on the hammer. My body is ready.

It has more to with most programs doing 55mph in a 45mph. Ole Miss flew by at 85mph and did it twice.

You forgot to mention Leo Lewis' jacked up truck
That would be in State's NOA...

Based on the actual math out there, then Miami was going 600 mph and got slap on the wrist.

NCAA may be opening up a can of worms with this "immunity" tactic
Why do y'all keep acting like this is something new? They've done it for YEARS and links to numerous examples have been posted in other threads.
quote:
Saban told his players requested by NCAA not to talk because they don't have to.
Citation needed. Pretty sure they only have to talk if they want to continue playing NCAA sports.

Opinion at this point but I think we started playing the same game as others and upset "the natural order".

No your whole theory is wrong. We were going 85 just like everyone else, we just had a tail light out and got caught. The NCAA was the bored cop that just wanted to make a name for himself.

quote:I didn't feel like listing out all of the usual suspects when it comes to notoriety for cheating. There are a lot of them. I think at this point everyone but the absolutely most self-deluded fans realize that just about everyone cheats. I don't agree that everyone cheats at the same level, and I sincerely hope that Ole Miss's level of cheating is the exception rather than the rule.

quote:I seriously hope you're wrong. I don't care if it makes me naive but that thread of hope I cling to that most schools' cheating is far more benign is the only thing that allows me to keep watching college football. If it came out that UF was pulling the same shite that Charley Pell did in the 80s I'd be among the ones leading the charge pushing for harsh penalties.

Like I said before, everyone has their bag-men, but I do think the coaches and administrations at most schools keep themselves as removed as possible from these "rogue boosters." I don't believe that institutional cheating goes on everywhere.
