Not really.

Chris Haack, stepping down after this year, built the program back where it should have been years ago. But he got lazy or never adapted in recruiting.

Should have retired years ago and it shows.

Geographically challenged: the bermuda/zoysia is just now starting to turn. Home course is a nice track tho.

They played the back first. Looking at the scoring, seems the back is playing easier relative to par today. We'll see how it shakes out once everyone plays it of course.

Looked earlier and Comegys had 5 birdies in the first 6 holes.

That's a good start for a scramble.

Well, one thing for sure, if Texas is fortunate to win the thing, golf will be just another non-revenue sport nobody cares about.
Still a lot of stroke play to go, followed by match play I believe.

If I were Alabama's Jennings, I'd make my teammates carry my bag.

I call them "that's nice" championships.

But to me...golf is so weird because it is the only sport where the players are like regular frat bro looking dudes of normal size.

Very frustrating to have the player that's leading the entire field but still be in 10th.

They are having a good round today and have played themselves back in the mix. They are -12 about 2/3 through their round in 9th place.

I believe the top 8 teams go to match play after the final round of stroke play tomorrow. Someone can correct me on that if I am wrong.

Yes you are correct

quote:

The SEC Men's Golf Championship format includes 54 holes of stroke play over the first two days, followed by match play for the top eight teams in the final two days. This structure closely mirrors the NCAA Championship format.

Also

The 2026 event will mark the eighth consecutive in which the championship will feature both stroke and match play. Three rounds of stroke play will occur the opening three days of the championship. For the sixth consecutive year, the final match play round will be televised live on SEC Network.

The SEC Men's Golf Championship has been played at Sea Island since 2001, with Georgia winning six of the 20 championships. Alabama has won four times, Florida has won four times, and Vanderbilt and Auburn have won three times. Arkansas, LSU and Tennessee have each won one conference tournament title during that time.
